I think this weekend will be a big test with it due to hit 20c tomorrow around here I can see people using the loop hole of 'exercising' to be out around the beach area for hours. It seems to me that you can walk , jog, cycle for as long as you want , but if you sit on a bench or grass for 5 minutes the police tell you to go home. As long as you keep moving its seen as ok.
I am staying at home but I am lucky that I have a small garden, by poor auntie is stuck on the fourth floor in a small flat on her own for another 10 weeks or so. I just hope I am wrong and people dont use the loophole of seaside exercise. But going by this week it's been busy ever day.

Reports that football clubs will be back in training once they get access to fast tests. If it was me I would be happy training with a group if I knew that group was being regularly tested. UK now has its own 90 mins test (Cambridge Uni) so I don't think it will be that long until football is back.

What about fans going to games? I was thinking ages but surely it's less risky than the tube or packed train travel? Pubs, and cruise liners are going to have a hard time in the future. Any other industries? Ferries? I don't think young people will stop going to clubs but maybe the govt will not approve licenses for pubs and clubs for quite some time?
Less risky than the tube, packed trains and trams? How are you proposing fans actually get there?

Gotcha. Well spotted, don't know how they came to use those figures in the first place then.
Something had to be used. In the USA they've just moved projected deaths from 93k to 240k to around 60k.

When we look back I don't think its the models that will come under scrutiny but the proponents of the herd immunity plan and the elitist politicians who accepted that strategy. The virus code was distributed across the Western world on the 10th January and a test would have been easy to develop thereafter. They probably were developed quickly but no priority was given to ring-fencing populations. Why? Because some people were arguing that we didn't need to stop the virus, we needed to control it's growth like a valve.
