Yeah, I have an awkward habit of believing things that are true. The man has been the driving force behind child immunisation rates skyrocketing and massively cutting TB and Aids deaths.

I meant that he’s saved more people than anyone else in history.

I don’t mean his motivations, he’s clearly a decent person.

Well the gates foundation is credited with saving 125 million lives.

Now you cold say, "ah but the person who invented the vaccine saved those lives, give Edward Jenner the praise", to which I'd say there's no lives being saved if someone doesn't fund the vaccination, and get it to the people who need it.

It's not something I'd die on a hill defending, if you can find someone credited with saving more lives I'd happily call Bill Gates #2, the idea behind the point about people abusing him still stands.

Yep, it is a decent debate point. you could add discoveries vs inventions too and then Flemming starts to be raised a lot with the discovery of Penicillin.

Then start to get into more fuzzy ground with Electricity. and telecom's allowing faster assistance if needed etc etc.
