The problem with the hospitality industry in Greater Manchester is they want their cake and eat it.

They want to be open but don’t want to check ppl coming in are all from the same household. You can’t have it both ways, if you are open then you MUST ensure ppl coming in are from the same household or in a bubble. This isn’t happening as far as I am aware. Maybe if they’d done that infections wouldn’t have spiked?

Just been tweeted by Sacha Lord that in 2 weeks only 1 alert has been sent out via the contact tracing app which was related to hospitality. Let that sink in.

havent the government produced figures saying 30% of infections are from bars, restaurants, cafes, etc?

we can all find stats that support our own viewpoint

No they haven't, someone published some figures and the key part was they had not been validated. Every other study suggests 3-5%. Clearly trying to lie to justify what they are proposing to do.

The 30% in Whittys slide is misleading. It’s 30% of whats left after you exclude work, hospital and education settings which it’s assumed we don’t want to shut down. It’s explained in the blue bar at the top of his slide.
So shutting pubs etc will have an effect but it isn’t going to reduce cases by 30%.

The FT is behind a pay wall.

The Sun references PHE weekly report, but I can't find in that report the details.

But according to the sun, its the number of "outbreaks" from hospitality. That's competely different to the number of cases.

Would like to see the original source.

(I've genuinely no idea how significant hospitality is in this so interested in the evidence)

i know it’s the daily mail but it references the underlying report.

average age of covid deaths in uk is 82.
and

The disease seems to be less lethal at the moment.
