Perhaps we should just hermetically seal everyone in their homes until they’re dead or the vaccine has gone?
There’s a fair few would support that!

It’s harrowing how many people want mass extended lockdowns, destroying people’s livelihoods, causing deaths through life threatening illness’s which are no longer considered a priority, altering the landscape of our social existence, and then want a vaccination forced upon them all to save the nhs! It’s like something out of a horror movie!

So UK death total today is 406 - the biggest day to day rise yet from 263. A grim day that will hopefully focus a few minds about why we are in lockdown from midnight.

Unfortunately these numbers are likely to go up even with lockdown as they are already cases that we are too late to stop reaching this point of no return.

Lockdown can only control death numbers a few weeks into the future which is disconcerting if this kind of rise continues.
Dreadful numbers.

England 302 hospital deaths in detail:

3 Nov adds 34 = 34 after 1 day (last week was 27 added)

2 Nov adds 122 = 157 after 2 days (last week it was 84 added). 122 is the most added since 3 May. 157 is highest day 2 total since 6 May.

1 Nov adds 52 = 179 after 3 days (last week it was 26 added). 179 is the highest 3 day total since 6 May.

31 Oct adds 38 = 182 after 4 days (last week it was 16 added). 182 is the most on the day deaths recorded at 4 days since 7 May.

30 Oct adds 18 = 173 after 5 days (last week it was 10 added).

29 Oct adds 12 = 191 at 6 days. This is the highest England hospital death numbers on a single day after all adds ons across many months since 10 May.

Other add ons are: - 28 Oct adds 7 = 170, 27 Oct adds 4 = 158, 26 Oct adds 3 = 160, 25 Oct adds 3 = 155. 24 Oct adds 3 = 132, 23 Oct adds 3 = 137, 22 Oct adds 1 = 141, 21 Oct adds 1 = 139.

The other death was added on to 30 March.

Welcome to our Brave New World, with a soupcon of 1984 thrown in for good measure.

England hospital deaths 3 wks ago v 2 wks ago v last wk v today

68 / 25 NW v 94 / 37 NW v 174 / 50 NW v 302 / 93 NW today

Note not just the big rise in total this week but how the NW proportion of the deaths has escalated this week.

We are likely seeing the deaths resulting from the big rise in cases on Merseyside and in Greater Manchester around the time that students were testing positive in big numbers two or three weeks ago after having filtered through to the more vulnerable.

Looks like you were right when you raised the issue of the lack of critical appraisal of the First Minister’s performance, or lack of.
A population of 5.4 million with only two largish conurbations and a death rate twice the size of England’s, despite the longer and harsher lock downs the Scots have endured.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

From Travelling Tabby, not including today's yet (along with Healdplace the only places I look for statistics. If only Healdplace could have her own thread for simply reporting the figures so that I don't have to trawl through all the rest to find information!)

Total weekly cases today from the 3 nations is 3314.

Week to week over past month this is:

3592 v 3740 v 3456 v 3314 today

So - a plateau - yes - but at a high level and not really falling much. Mostly in N Ireland where it has.
