Seen someone taking the piss out of London.

Those that think that’s appropriate maybe spare a thought for the thousands of lonely elderly people, who have waited months to see their families, have been suffering alone in care homes and small flats, for months on end, only for the day they’ve been waiting for to be taken away from them with 6 days ‘til the day.

Also think about the extra people who will lose family as a result of this variation.

It’s not the fault of all Londoners, the majority of which will have adhered to the rules.

Have a go at this diabolical government and the minority of dick heads ruining it for everyone, thinking cramming into shops is important.
I’m fairly lucky in the fact we moved out of London in the summer. Many friends also decided to leave but of course we’ve still got friends there who I feel for.

One I feel particularly bad for is a really good mate from Stoke. His dad’s not been very well this year and he was planning on making it back briefly for Christmas. That I assume is off the cards now. Think I’ll throw in a bonus Stoke City round into our planned Christmas Zoom football quiz with the lads.

Looks like staying in tier 3 was a blessing for us in the NW, this new strain will already be rife here but could have been a fuck of a lot worsec
As I said weeks ago but did not see the reason why, of course. Just that it was the safest place to stay in the chaotic mess politicians were making of this whole thing.

Which will end where it should have started in a national lockdown because these tiers are utterly useless and imo make things worse not better for reasons I have explained before.

Just it will happen weeks too late as is a common theme with the UK in this pandemic.

The only person probably pleased is Philip Pullman as he can probably sue all those who have plagiarised his idea of multiple tiered places with slightly different rules that nobody from one ever understands about the others

Nonetheless they can all just get in a car or walk from one to the other and circumvent all the bad stuff going on in the 'world' they just left. But unfortunately all these mad demons are following them there and end up screwing over the place they have decided was nicer to go to than the one they were in first of all.

So in the end every one of these worlds/tiers is in the same mess as the first one was.

Totally agree that it’s out of order to take the piss. It was only last week that London were in a lower tier than us and suddenly they’re in a higher one - one that I didn’t even know existed until a few hours ago. That said, there was one poster on here several weeks back implying that the reason the infection numbers were higher up north is because we weren’t behaving ourselves while the southerners were!

I'm not sure there was a tier 4 until a few hours ago.

Picture in my Sunday paper last week showed a pedestrianised Regent Street crammed with Christmas shoppers, the vast majority not wearing face coverings. Friends daughter who lives there and works in a central hospital told her mother that things were so bad the government would have to act quickly, looks like they have.

That sounds pretty bad tbh. I was in Manchester doing a bit of Christmas shopping on Thursday and most were observing the mask guidance plus it was very quiet. So quiet that it was quite easy to keep your distance walking through the Arndale, etc.
