I know a few who travelled up north yesterday and today. Undoubtedly, many more will be heading north. As this strain has been around since mid November at the very least, no doubt it will soon spread to other areas.

If he'd had said 3 weeks ago that Christmas was cancelled then we'd be saying on here that it's still a joke.

The BBC ran a headline yesterday, first about this new variant and second about how loads of pubs/restaurants are going bust....

What are they meant to do? They've tried to run with a balanced approach but cases are going up too fast and now they are reacting to that in advance of the rush this week.

Ask any healthcare provider and they'll agree with the new rules but ask them 4 months ago and we'd still be locked in our houses despite minimal cases. There's just no right answer.

There are zero measures whatsoever to stop people travelling in and out of the worse affected regions. It all started from people travelling in from other countries, and it took them about 3 months to start imposing any restrictions telly people to quarantine for 2 weeks, in their own home, unmonitored.


Whatever new strain there is will be all over the country in a few days similar and everyone will be in tier 4 for new year, unless they rebadge the tier again.

Looks like staying in tier 3 was a blessing for us in the NW, this new strain will already be rife here but could have been a fuck of a lot worse.
