when I had my 'flu vaccine I was told to wait on a chair in Boots for 15 mins post vaccine just in case I had an allergic reaction. The appointments were based 15 mins apart to allow for this.

Supply might be an issue. They did noticeably say in the Downing St briefing that they'd be vaccinating on the basis of keeping up with supply.
Come on Marv, chairs don't wear boots.

Rather surprised that there hasn’t been more interrogation of the authorities in regards to the spread of the virus in schools, particularly in respect to the new strain. Hear the same lines trotted out about schools being fundamentally safe, yet nobody asks about recent figures to support that assertion. Many teachers are parents themselves, so I’d imagine the virus will thrive in the inevitable contact between parties.

I see Israel is set to begin vaccinating teachers next.

It wasn’t rife in primary schools pre Xmas but this new variant brings into question whether that will remain the case. I would have thought Teachers would have been higher up the chain in terms of vaccine given their importance to keep kids educated and parents working.

They got a lot of criticism during lockdown one but to be honest from what I have seen from her and her colleagues and all the teaching staff at my daughters school, they have been absolute troopers in very difficult circumstances. My wife teaches 5-6 year olds so you can imagine what the social distancing is like in her classroom!

There has.
30% of cases are spread in schools and further education establishments. (See PHE weekly surveillance reports.)
From the NERVTAG report on the new variant, we know that the previous Covid strain was not spread easily by under 13 children to adults particularly well but the new strain is more easily spread.
It is pretty much clear from news reports that High schools and Universities cannot open till bi-weekly testing is in place or new virus cases will rocket

Herding cats, according to my better half, who coincidentally ‘teaches’ the same age range. If parents fear that their child might contract the virus at school, and then bring it into the home, then attendance rates may be understandably patchy in the early weeks of term.

One thing I have not been able to determine is if the Oxford-Astrazeneca will help the immune systems of people who are infected but yet to show symptoms? If so, should some of the Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine be used to vaccinate the contacts of those who are currently sick?
