apparently, they are not very disciplined in respecting the lockdown.

I think whole generations live together in a lot of properties and with nowhere to go will have to continue doing so, therefore increasing the risk. I read the majority of Italians also drink and smoke a lot adding to their vulnerability. Isn't there a huge influx of Chinese immigrant workers in Italy too, many of whom had recently been home, a fair few in Wuhan?

Now I've nothing against Ant Middleton, he is probably a decent enough bloke, but he is totally missing the point here,
I don't expect to die from this virus if I'm unlucky enough to contract it, same as the rest of my immediate family 2 strapping lads and a healthy wife,

but I can't say the same for my inlaws or my own parents, so with this in mind I am taking precautions, I'm following the guidelines laid out by the government, not for me but for the people out there that I may come into contact with during my day, week or whatever who if I do have CV19 I might pass it on to,
This is where Mr Middleton seems to be missing the point, him spouting this shit will lead to the ignorant possibly passing it to their elderly loved ones etc
so yes Mr SAS you may be fine you may not have any reason to worry for yourself, but for fucks sake think about others, who aren't as healthy or have under lying issues, that if they were to come into contact with someone carrying this could be the end for them
The blokes a complete prick, Skip.

NHS England to get extra 8,000 hospital beds

The National Health Service (NHS) England has said it struck a major deal with independent hospitals to boost the organisation's capacities in tackling the coronavirus outbreak.

"Nearly 20,000 fully qualified staff will be joining the NHS response to the pandemic, helping manage the expected surge in cases," it said in a statement.

"The extra resources now secured by the health service will not only be available to treat coronavirus patients, but will also help the NHS deliver other urgent operations and cancer treatments.

"The deal - the first of its kind ever - includes the provision of 8,000 hospital beds across England, nearly 1,200 more ventilators, more than 10,000 nurses, over 700 doctors and over 8,000 other clinical staff."

It said that in London, the deal includes over 2,000 hospital beds, and over 250 operating theatres and critical beds.

Reacting to the announcement, UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock said: "This is great news for the hospitals and staff doing everything they can to combat coronavirus."

Apologies if already covered.

Yeh it’s good news, the pretty much the entire private sector hospital capacity available to the NHS now.

where did you get that from?

Worldometer looked encouraging 111 new cases and 3 new deaths

none of it good obvs but worldometer must be out of date

edit yes just seen breaking news 50 odd new deaths
You have to go to the bottom of the UK specific page when results come up. England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales all report at different times.
The total on the countries page is the running total for all 4 countries that make up the UK.
Also deaths in England is normally reported an hour and a bit before new cases.

I've literally just watched that video, looks like a quiet early morning in any town abroad....scary
It could be just a particular area of Naples, and the rest of Italy might be acting more sensibly. I hope so.

What worries me generally is if people think they can meet up in private houses and have a few beers. That story about the Italian family in New Jersey should disabuse anyone if that notion.

When will this lockdown in Italy start to take effect? The new numbers today are once again an increase. This could easily kill another 10,000 Italians in the next 7 days if it doesn’t slow down soon. They would then the up to almost 15000 deaths. Scary.

For some reason england, scotland andwales are giving their numbers out seperately

4 nurses have posted a pic of them with clinical waste bags on their heads as they don't have any protective caps

I have liked your post but I don’t like the content of the post, if that makes sense,
