WHO is estimating a mortality rate of 3.4% nearly double the 2% they initially estimated. The original estimate was already well more than double the mortality rate of flu.
If we're taking Italy as the country to judge:
9.3% of the infected have died.
11.9% of the infected have recovered.
78.8% of the infected cases are ongoing.
Those figure aren't to be sniffed at.
The UK is also well above flu statistics:
4.9% of the infected have died.
0.02% of the infected have recovered.
The rest are ongoing.
Granted a lot of the statistics aren't bang on as not all cases are tested but I assume that's the same with the flu as well. Add to that these statistics are with measures that have been put in place to try and prevent worse outcomes.
Any figures even remotely compared to flu should be immediately quashed.
everest has been closed since thirteenth of march. if that doesn't make people realise how serious this all is nothing will.Climbing Everest may now be safer than walking up Snowdon.
If you’re anything like us he will just reinforce washing hands and social distancing....
Then it's definitely safer than Snowdon.
Disgraceful, despicable and absurd.

Yeah, business had been really up and down...
Sorry, this is as serious shit as you can get but right now if I didn’t laugh, I’d be crying.

My brother is in Stockholm, was just speaking to him earlier. Can’t believe all your schools aren’t even shut yet.The army have already started converting an Exhibition Centre in to a field hospital. On Friday they sked ski resort to close the apres-ski. They didn't. Today they closed them down. I'm hopeful we'll get more action, at least in Stockholm. 21 deaths in Sweden so far.
Obviously if a country is successful at stopping spread the % of population dying will be low. The % of infected dying will be constant across the world although things like a country's general health, wealth, number of respirators, doctors, hospitals medicines will affect that figure.I think the point of the post was the % of the population that had died due to the virus, not the mortality of the virus itself. Not sure why it is especially relevant but the maths seemed about right.
with the cheltenham festival going ahead and the information about the spread of this coronavirus it's strange how cheltenham and ireland has not had a massive spike of cases yet.I was boring people with this stuff at the end of January and was called a ‘scaremonger’ in February - Cheltenham, the Derby, the Liverpool/Athletico game etc should never have gone ahead
We had a road map of what would happen and for economic reasons(rightly or wrongly) chose to ignore that roadmap
How are you feeling now?Is there any chance even if your right, you don’t correct every person that says something that doesn’t suit your train of thought. Your like a nutter ranting at every one who walks by. Even putting NUT as to confirm your annoyance.
That’s really not what she said. What she said was that, given how relatively few people we’ve tested, it’s likely that our ‘death rate’ will look higher than other countries. Therefore, looking at numbers of dead is a more comparable indicator. The medical lady says it depends how you count the death figures,we are counting the most serious ones,i take that to mean what i have been saying about not eveybody who dies will have this as cause of death on their death certificate, that is why she doesn't want people to compare the numbers with other countries
