Given the guidelines have been issued in collaboration with the NHS, PHE and the WHO I would expect they have been in the occasional hospital.
What to use it sparingly? I am sure he would have referenced anybody like that to back him up,they are dying, they are probably terrified to go to work and want to be protected every second of their shifts, they will change it as per well established practices,i am sure someone that sits in an office doesn't get that,he is still getting battered for not getting enough out and whilst i have sympathy with the distribution problems dont shift it to the staff who use it

Walking has never been so popular. The government can never say this but people don’t need to go for daily walks or runs it’s not essential to 99% of the population. If you absolutely need to exercise use your gardens, use your stairs, use a treadmill/bike/rower or just run on the fucking spot

99% of the population? what are you on?

Responding to his latest assurances, director of nursing at the Royal College of Nursing Susan Master said it would only be impressive when nursing staff “stop contacting me to say what they need to use wasn't available”.

“The safety of nurses and care staff must not be compromised,” she add They are pretty clear about what they need to do to stay safe and they will be angered by any suggestion they cause shortages by misusing kit

The premise of your argument is that there is a real choice between saving lives now and saving the economy. The problem is that without drastic measures the pandemic will overwhelm the healthcare system, many doctors and nurses will get ill and won't be able to do their job, as a result many young people will be affected because they can't be treated, which will overwhelm the economy itself. Saving lives now or saving the economy? It's a false dilemma.

Scientific research has shown that the US cities which were longer in a lockdown during the Spanish flu in 1918 recovered ecomically faster than the cities which tried to save the economy and lifted the lockdown a bit prematurely.

I agree with all that. Not for me to say, but im not sure the post was advocating not having any restrictions at all. just that a total lockdown for as long as needed has huge consequences. It is a fine line and needs balance, something imho this government are doing their best to maintain.

I wasn't aware until this evening that anyone in a care home, who is tested positive, or even showing symptoms, has the choice of whether to go to hospital or not.
That's just crazy.
I think it is the opposite lovely, they are not testing patients just the staff and they are not being taken to hospital

Sorry thought we were discussing what Mat Hancock said at the briefing which was that there was enough PPE as long as it is used in accordance with the guidelines from NHS, PHE and WHO

Not quite the same thing, I know, but I'm sure I read that care homes were also refusing to accept people coming directly from hospitals, the fear being that they could be carrying the virus. Any idea if that is still true?

19116 tests carried out will that just be health workers?

The consultant and head nurses are clearly using what they have got for what they need to use it for, they know what they need and they saying along with others that they don't have enough for what they need it for

Mr Hancock insists that "there's enough PPE to go round", but that it should be treated as a "precious resource" and only used when there's a clinical need

What does he think they are doing with it?

Did he reference the WHO etc? i didn't hear it or see it here
