Covid and travel discussion

Exactly. It’s lovely if you’re rich live down south not far away by car and have a 2nd home there so can go when the weather is nice. For anyone that isn’t in that position, it’s an expensive gamble with the weather.
I went to the lakes for 2 days, lovely but cost me £300.
I don't enjoy everywhere else here in this country at all, it's expensive, the roads are horrible and most places are full of idiots. Abroad for me every time.

Just back from a week in Porto Santo. Only 20 people on the flight back!

ive had both vaccinations, PCR test before I went, another test at the airport this morning, day 2 and day 8 tests at the ready

lots of faff, hassle and expense but 5 * All Inc still considerably cheaper than a week in the U.K. Madness. What’s madder is Porto Santo (Madeira essentially) goes onto the green list as of Wednesday ….so those returning next week will be free to leave their house whilst I’m still stuck indoors isolating

Would have stayed another week if more time off work has been an option! Just to be able to leave the house earlier ….ludicrous

pS there are 5000 permanent residents of Porto Santo. More chance of me catching covid going to Bolton

Everyone in the resort has tested negative. Yet my sister and her two children both caught Covid last week but her covid free husband doesn’t have to isolate as he is on some pilot scheme doing lateral flow tests daily and providing he records negative results he’s free to move around as usual?!

I am beyond confused of the logic behind any of these rules

PS not read the whole thread but keep hearing stories of the track and trace Nazis knocking on to ensure people are isolating …..anyone got any first hand experience of this?
