COVID Data Thread

USA just passed the 1m death mark.
For comparison the UK as of today is 175,984 deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid test as defined here.

Hospital patients in England down again by 354 to 8596 today V 10,432 last week.

Ventilators down again too on 224 V 252 last week. North West on just 16 - the lowest since 15 May last year.

All the other nations falling too. Northern Ireland back on zero on ventilators and even Scotland down on 13 and patients down on 1166 V 1458 last week.

So all still going well.

Thank you for the likes today.

The trend has continued since last week.

Here are the England patient numbers with Covid in hospital Wednesday to Wednesday over the past 4 weeks:

15,399 - 14,164 - 10,965 - 8950 - TODAY 7034.

So more than halved in the past month. The over 75s boosters have been highly successful.

The same has happened in ventilated patients:

Over the same month:-

306 - 309 - 260 - 241 -TODAY 170. Lowest since 14 June 2021.

There are now just 1956 patients in the other 3 nations so 8990 in the UK.

Ventilators in the other 3 nations are just 27 - so a total of 197.

First sub 200 since midsummer last year.

Even Scotland? You obviously haven’t seen the data on our NHS out performing most regions of the UK.

Scotland latest numbers 1033 patients (down from 1285 the week before). Ventilators 11 (down from 16 the week before)

These are 2 days old as Scotland are now only posting any data twice a week,

I was taking exception to the “even Scotland” comment.

No data for several days now so quick end of week update:

England hospital patients fall again today by 236 to 6366 V 8170 last Friday & 9938 the Friday before.

This is the 24th straight day numbers have fallen in hospital.

Lowest in hospital since 18 December last year.

London is actually up a little today on 1283. Other regions all down.

North West on 943. Yesterday (991) and today being the first time in 2022 it has been below 1000.

NW peaked in mid/late January in the first Omicron wave at 3206.

England Ventilators stay on 162 with North West on just 13.Only South West on 10 has fewer.

The last time the North West had fewer than 13 on ventilators (on 12) was remarkably as far back as 6 September 2020.

So lowest on ventilators in the NW for 16 months - A stat that really shows the success of the booster vaccines with Omicron.

Fingers crossed the news on the pitch over the next few days is equally good.
