Not really sure what your point is, the figures published on .gov.scot have used the same method of counting and the last 4 Thursdays are
9408,8262,8275,8210 and todays 7341.
Only the UK have changed how they count Scottish numbers, which may look like they have doubled, they haven’t though.

Sorry I was not trying to argue what you were saying as you may well be right,

I just meant that they HAVE risen double v the numbers recorded by Gov UK for Scotland so they are adding a higher percentage of the UK daily numbers since the change than they were as that number always featured the one on the UK site not the higher number on the Scotland release for the week or two before.

I have no clue how real it is in terms of translation to other things like hospital data. Quite possibly it has no relation Just happy the numbers are now comparable and make sense.

The curves below (ex Travelling Tabby) Show the trends over the last year in Scotland (Lower Curve ) and the UK as a whole (Upper Curve) for Cases(blue line), Hospital admissions (yellow line) and Deaths (red line). The Scotland curves included LFD +ves from 5th Jan; I don't know if or when England etc include LFD +ves. The scales are different on the two curves - the cases maximum represent 16,407 for Scotland and 212.837 for the UK as a whole for comparison. The last few weeks are interesting - Scotland showing a very gradual decline in cases whilst the UK as a whole shows a much more rapid decline in cases whilst the hospital cases and deaths curves look more similar for both Scotland and the UK. Makes me think that England are not including LFD +ves in their figures?Cases, Deaths, and Hospitalizations Comparison Trends(4a).pngCases, Deaths, and Hospitalizations Comparison Trends(3a).png

Thank you those are very interesting.

Would not surprise me if your suspicions are right.

The best person to ask is Roubaix.

I would like to know how he interprets this too.

Though what is worth noting is that Zoe data has shown Scotland steadily climbing from in 11 or 12th of the 12 UK regions to today being in 4th place - up from 6th yesterday.

So Zoe is detecting a very clear rise in Scotland less obvious in England. Though some Southern England regions are rising.

London having been top, then fallen a lot in January is now back on Zoe in 2nd - ahead of Scotland.

North East, Yorkshire and North West have been in the three best England places for days now with only Wales below them. And London, South East, South West and East are the top 4 England regions and have been for a while with the two midlands regions in the middle.

The Gov UK cases tend to match these placements for the England regions rather well.

ZOE APP GRAPH TODAY

As you can see the downward curve in ongoing cases is still there but is clearly shallower than the one we had in early January after which numbers started to rise again.

Not sure how to interpret these numbers.

Predicted cases today were 171,900 - down from 175,379 yesterday & 181,425 day before & 185,193 day before that. Today is the lowest fall of this week so far. But is still falling at least. Abd by a decent number.

Hard to predict where this is going tbh.

ZOE NUMBERS

Not looked at these in detail in a while and they are very useful to see how the UK is going. As weekends are quiet data wise this is a good day to look at trends here.

74 all settings deaths (only England and N Ireland reported today) V last week 52

69 England only V 50 last week

Unfortunately a little bit of an increase in England as you can see. N Ireland (5 V 1) was up wk to wk too.

25,696 cases - was 34,377 yesterday & 41,270

England only 23,831 - was 32,230 yesterday & 32,316 last Sunday

N Ireland added 1865 V 2158 last week

Scotland (5301 last week) & Wales (1495 last week) added nothing today. As both n o lomger publishing at weekend,

So most of what looks like a big fall of 16 K week to week will not be that when these are added on.

But the England fall of 8485 wk to wk is real.

THE ENGLAND CASE NUMBER IS THE LOWEST RECORDED SINCE 8 NOVEMBER

Wales from this weekend have stopped reporting altogether other than Monday to Friday

Only Wednesday, Thursday & Friday will report the numbers from the past 24 hours.

The Monday report will contain the Friday of the previous week number & The Tuesday numbers will be for THREE days added together every week - the previous Saturday, Sunday & Monday.
