Bairstow and Curran should be ahead of Buttler! Buttler should be our batsmen whatever the circumstances to take the attack to the opposition.

incredible when stokes is batting at 4 with a injury ??? and roy dropped 3 test to late for me and did not understand the overton over curran in the last test ????
on paper it looks a weak batting line up and smells Like desperation and wanting it over in 2 to 3 days, england will come out all guns blazing and swing the bat at everything and the aussies will just pick us off, england will be lucky to score 150, and if the aussies win the toss and bat first and score big runs they will only need one innings and it will be ugly from england ?? you just know its coming and it will be all over in a flash
big changes are needed and if the reports on the bbc are to go by then root will still be captain ??? and no need to panic because it was winning the ODI world cup our real target ?? this summer, one change will happen with the head coach is moving on ?? but for me the big one is jimmy still wanting to play test cricket ??? that is wrong in my book and if the new coach comes in and the axe falls on jimmy and drops him and leaves him out then jimmy will go on the wrong terms
jimmy should have said ok thank you and waved good by at the OT test, and say am putting my rest of time i have in cricket back into county cricket with Lancashire, he would have got one hell of a goodbye and everybody could have wished him well and a good presentation by the ECB ???

Getting a lot of fighting talk from the players, they should just shut up and start performing.
It still bemuses me how an international test team can put out a side with two wicket keepers?

BIG changes are not needed, we have the core of a very good team. The coach is going so we’ll see some natural changes. And you can’t have big changes when the cupboards are bare. Whether people like it or not these players in the test squad are the best in the country. Moeen Ali is the best in the country, until a month ago he was the leading wicket taker in world cricket. He goes back to county cricket and destroys it. James Vince, one of the best in cc can’t do it at test level. There is a pool of about 18 players and that’s that. And the likes of Overton are not good enough.
I hate ashes defeats. I can handle the team losing and the Aussie gloating but the hysteria from fans and media does my nut. No respect at all for the second greatest batsman in history and one of the best bowling attacks that have come here in the past few decades.

if jimmy was fit i still don't think we would have won the ashes ??? and today root been talking about the future and going forward so how can that be with jimmy still in the team, england have to look to the next ashes quickly and jimmy record down under is poor anyway ?? so maybe 2 fast bowlers and 2 swing medium pace and a spinner
i would like to see archer and another pace bowler that can bowl 90 mph maybe woods then broad and woakes and leach then you have stokes playing the all rounder role, we all know down under with the kookaburra and the pitches and the heat is a all new ball game and you need the tools to beat them in there back yard, so we are only taking about the bowling but the batting line up needs a big shake up and 3 or 4 need to come in ?? burns keeps his place and if root is captain he will bat at 3 or 4 so a lot of work is needed from know on to build a batting line up good enough to give the bowling team a chance
but back to jimmy at 37 time is running out and a little injuries catch up on you and its your body saying hold on a minute and getting fit and clear of injury takes longer and your at risk of doing it again and again, just look at vinny kompany his brain saying am good enough at the top level but the body say sorry NO, you have to listen to your body, like vinny knowing when its best to go because you respect the club and fans, kompany could have easy stayed on for another season much like yaya did but the fans will feel cheated and when your asked to come on your not the player you was at 28
