He can't be any worse than Sibley.
Sibley will be 26 next month and has played his 22 Tests predominantly throughout the Covid period. With a highest score of 133 and average of 28.94, he’s no better or worse than Malan. He’s now nearly 34 but managed 15 Tests with a highest score of 140 and an average of 27.84.

I don’t have anything against the individual players, just that the selection system is poor and far too reactionary.

It’s all becoming all too like the late 80’s to mid 90’s next cab off the rank with regards to batting especially, but at least back then they could pick from someone scoring or bowling well in the county game whereas now we have the pick of the 100, the ECB have painted themselves into a corner with the all in for a bastardised 20/20.

That’s the stupidity of it all. I heard Vaughan droning on about Zak Crawley’s mind not being in the right place and how he needed to drop out of the team because of his technique and go and play some cricket so that he could recapture his form. However, there’s no proper cricket for Crawley to play, so how could he hone his technique and recapture any form? Now, it looks as if Sibley faces the same fate and is to be replaced by the reintegrated Malan, but if Malan’s form was any better when the County season started, then why wasn’t he in the squad in the first place? I fear Burns will be next for the revolving door. :-(

Re The The Hundred final day. Bit embarrassing if they've failed to sell out the final.

You couldn't buy tickets in advance when I looked a few weeks ago. Yet there were games in Southampton that were already sold out at the time.

This morning there was tickets available for the final... Is that down to poor timing with when they released the ticket allocation or is there just too much cricket at Lord's?

If the 'locals' are used to World Test Championship finals, 50 over World Cup finals, test cricket etc are they turning their noses up at this event?

Mark Wood out injured for this one, joining Broad, Woakes, Archer and Stone.

Mahmood and Overton are in the squad, looks like Anderson will be asked to play another test, with Robinson the other choice (non spin).

Forgot Sam Curran's medium stuff.
