Leach in I’m out.
I'm not sure if Leach will play will he? Depending on the pitch of course.

I'd imagine it'll be Crawley, Lees, Pope, Root, Bairstow, Stokes, Foakes, Brook, Overton, Broad, Anderson.

New MD, coach and captain but a very similar batting line up still. Good news for Lancs with Parkinson and Bohannon not in the squad and for someone heading to Amsterdam for the ODI's in a month I've got my fingers crossed for a strong team.

Don't think Pope has played at 3 at all, and if he is to play, I think they'd be better with him going in at 4 and Root going in at 3.

Think they've already said Root's back at 4 haven't they?
Yes, so in my mind they're already repeating a mistake; echoes of Moeen Ali having to go in at 3 to accommodate Root. Neither Root nor Pope is a natural number 3, and asking them to go in there is foolhardy, especially when it's acknowledged that one of the openers is already in wretched form. Think they would be better with someone at 3 who can drop anchor rather than weigh anchor.

England squad for NZ series: Ben Stokes (Durham, captain), James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Harry Brook (Yorkshire), Zak Crawley (Kent), Ben Foakes (Surrey), Jack Leach (Somerset), Alex Lees (Durham), Craig Overton (Somerset), Matthew Potts (Durham), Ollie Pope (Surrey), Joe Root (Yorkshire).

I would stick with Crawley for an year atleast regardless of the outcome, he has the potential to do it as this level and could well be england's main stay in test for years to come. Bowling department is a concern in the long run

What more does Parkinson have to do? He's taken 23 wickets in 4 games on pitches that aren't spinner friendly which puts him one behind the leading wicket taker. It's actually starting to look personal now. I bet if he played for another county and was all friendly with the right people he'd have been picked.
