Yes, so in my mind they're already repeating a mistake; echoes of Moeen Ali having to go in at 3 to accommodate Root. Neither Root nor Pope is a natural number 3, and asking them to go in there is foolhardy, especially when it's acknowledged that one of the openers is already in wretched form.
