Unless you're chasing runs in the fourth innings and you're running out of overs, I find it hard to fathom why you'd get yourself run out in a test match. Time/overs isn't generally an issue. Most batsmen are also a pretty good judge of whether they can beat the throw. And taking on a fielder's arm these days is risky. Even if the scenario is 75/25 in your favour, why chance it?
 
Quite fanciful of the BBC to suggest England sense a victory push - 181 ahead , six wickets in hand one day left.

The likeliest outcome is the draw. Unless we have a stereotypical England collapse tomorrow! I can’t see the Kiwis setting England anything much less than 300, which would take near enough up to lunch to set that target. And England wouldn't try to chase that down at pretty much 5 runs an over.
