The commentary and promotion is appalling. Stop bloody bigging this up. It does not compare to the IPL and Flintoff doing his best Reg Holdsworth meets Top Gear impression does not help. There's no West Indian T20 specialists other than Braithwaite, no Indians, no Australians, no Pakistanis and the only South African of note looks like he's escaped from the chorus of Hair.
I caught the end of the women's game and even when Manchester needed 3 a ball Key and Lene Lovich or something or other were talking about the great tactic of knocking it for 2. Instead of saying it's virtually game over with about 45 needed from 20 balls they are over promoting a close finish like it's WWE.
Keep on saying what great crowds but half the tickets are given away. I just hate dumbing down the game like this.
Cricket's beauty started properly disintegrating with the drunken barmy army so now the crowd becomes the spectacle instead of the game's drama.

Agreed about the hype from the commentary box, so transparent, it's annoying.
 
Not for me the hundred, can't get attached to it like I do with Lancashire, have it a go, the games too short and poor quality, makes them rush everything
 
I don't mind franchise T20 cricket - i just wish they just kept it to Franchise T20 in UK but added all the extra easy guides about cricket - descriptions etc

I know people in cricket who have said some of the stuff is good ie 10 balls from one end but can change a bowler after 5 balls. It's the same people attending the games out on the piss - yes there are hopefully newer people via free tickets etc

But i dont get the full on wankfest from the commentators - its not too different a game -

There was supposed to be a similar EPL tournament in 2010, although involving the counties, more money and overseas players attracted.

The problem was it was park of the ECB tie in with Stanford, so it fell on its arse when he was arrested the year before. The ECB were then knocked back for several years until the new T20 for 2020 was being planned for since around 2015, although the proposed format has changed a number of times.

It seems there are not enough good wickets left at some of the bigger grounds to cope with extra demand. After inventing T20 and it being successful, the ECB then sat back and let the rest of the world overtake it, and this 100 is the epitome of their disregard for county cricket as the 50 over games are now 2nd string.
 
Really cannot take to the hundred at all. The stupid on screen scorecard graphics instantly put me off and are just confusing. Feels like they spend so long telling us how amazing it is, reality is it’s just bang average quality when compared to the IPL. Also the stupid names have just lost any association with the teams. I follow lancs to an extent and the associated players, but Manchester Originals??? Give me a break.
 
The 100 is fucking shit. You can shove some fancy Hacienda graphics on it but at the end of the day the ECB knew they’d fucked up not licensing 20/20 thus letting India and Australia taking it up and making it better and so we have this desperate attempt to get back in the game.

Gave the counties too much power thats the problem.Before T20 they propped up most of the counties from tests and 1 day internationals.
Not any more the counties dont need them.The way things are going when all if us Focs die off in about 30 yrs there will be no test cricket.

The likes of Worc/Leic/Northhants need the ECB big time unless they want to be little more than semi pro, the county game is geared to test grounds and London money. They have complied with this abomination in order to receive a big fuck off pay off to keep afloat Sky and the Beeb will be desperate to put the lipstick on the pig that it is but it’s an ugly looking sow for sure.
 
20/20 and the 100 are not team sports
its all about the players and the big hitters and wham bam thank you mam
 
My biggest bugbear of the 100 is the “Too close to call” aspect of the review system. What’s wrong with umpire’s call?

They’re simplifying something that doesnt need to be done and anyone who doesn’t know the game doesn’t learn what it means.

Meanwhile, they‘re happy to use terms like dhoosra, wrong’un etc.
 
I think Lancs are trying to bore Middx into submission. They do realise this is a one day game?
If they don't get a shift on they'll run out of overs.

Edit- poor game management from Jones and Croft. Their inability to keep rotating the strike and a lack of boundaries put too much pressure on the later overs. That 25 to 35 over spell killed it.

They’ve gone out their way to invent new terms for things that have always existed. So it’s fives or sets instead of overs, etc etc. All it does is put off existing (legacy) fans, but new fans still don’t have a clue what’s going on so what’s the point?!

Even so, I’ve been surprised how little I’ve hated it, to be honest I’ve even enjoyed watching the games. Still don’t see what was wrong with t20 though. I know they don’t own the rights to it, but isn’t that the case for pretty much every sport in the world? The premier league don’t own football but still do alright out of it.

It’s cricket. It’s still good to watch, but the glitz is irrelevant to how good the game is.

The most important aspect is that some of it is on the BBC.
