Damn. Thought we might be on for the record win after conceding the highest first innings total. Just checked. Bangladesh made 595 for 8 dec against NZ in early 2017, and lost the test by seven wickets! The 556 will only be the equal 5th; Pakistan have twice scored even more in first innings, and gone on to lose.

Not sure Bashir is going to make it long term. He can’t bat or field, so his bowling needs to be top class to justify his place.
So far, it’s not looking that way. He’s tall and spins the ball a bit, but as soon as someone matches that, he’s gone.
It might even be Archie Vaughan.

Leech can't bat but he does have a lot of experience what Bashir doesn't but in England Bashir done well, be interesting if leech performances in this series will make him our number one spin bowler again

There’s no doubt that Leech is the more consistent of the two, but that’s normal for someone with a decade more of experience.
Leech is also a better batter than Bashir. Who can forget his 1 not out to allow Stokes his glory? Or his 92 against Ireland that may have stopped us being humiliated!
Bashir has been helped by Stokes’ uber aggressive field settings. I’d hope that a better spinner would get even more wickets under his captaincy.
