Have to say aus edged that first session with that last wicket. Flat pitch and still 3 down. Need at least 450 here

What’s everyone’s opinion on Pope? Seems to be highly rated but he never fills me with confidence.

He’s also being lined up for when Stokes gives up the captaincy.

We will see after the series! A very good batsman he will get runs captain wise in the future I don’t know never seen him captain a team..

Aussies morning why Crawley didn’t walk for that I don’t know

And with that it's advantage Australia.

Tactically it's seemed strange to allow us to rotate the strike, but actually it's worked well because the scoreboard has ticked over but not at a dramatic pace and they've still taken wickets. We can't really afford to lose anymore wickets in the next session now.

Root will be loving the space to just rotate the strike and we've got to change our approach in the next session to just keep ticking things over without losing a wicket.

Aussies stuck in there kept nipping out wickets only plus we on 126, need to only lose 1 wicket max 2 this Afternoon

Big wicket that just before lunch, England do bat long but Root and Brook need to buckle down and take the sting out of them after lunch,

Need a couple of centuries out of Root, Cook, Bairstow and Stokes if they’re going to get the score this wicket deserves.

We need Root, Brook, Bairstow and Stokes to step up to the plate here; a century from at least one of them and 50s from the others. And if the tail enders can contribute 30 or so, that'll be a bonus.

Clever approach by Australia. Can you suffocate and exhaust England by setting an old-school field and forcing them to keep rotating the strike (4.7 per over) rather than conceding a boundary and a couple of runs per over?
