Roots had an absolute stinker last two days! for me it started with his running down the wicket to Lyon getting stumped! Funny thing with cricket take the piss be overly confident/Arrogant it will come back and bite you on the arse! The reserved Root is what I want back!

Exactly this, at times over the last few years he was our only ‘True’ test match player, certainly the only one who showed any pedigree, I don’t think the management or captain have tried to change him, it’s his desire to adapt & be like/better than others at Bazball, when all he has to do is maintain that 59 average

Yeah, he's the one player who doesn't really have to adapt to Bazball as his natural game is to score quite freely anyway. All he has to do is stick to what he's been doing this past decade or so.
