Actually, why did they start on the wednesday?

My guess would be the T20 World Cup taking up a lot of our test summer, so there are back to back to back matches and giving them an extra day, although tests 2 and 3 both start on Thursdays, so probably nonsense!

It’s such a shame we have 2 sub standard test sides touring over here this year. I absolutely love test cricket and the summer tests are pretty much the highlight of my summer. Sadly can’t see any of the series being competitive

How would that make any difference if they’re only lasting 2.5?

All 5 days does is allow for some bad weather, I guess.

Well I guess most are surviving into a 4th day and I was thinking it would bring the draw back as something to play for. As it stands it just ain't worth buying tickets in advance for day 4 and even 3 for test matches in this country !
