Watched today's highlights of the Lancs game before and Derbyshire had 3 players out playing no shot, 2 out strangled down the leg side off Baldersons bowling and a meaningless run out.

Lancs need to crack on tomorrow and get into a position where they can declare at tea, hopefully the pitch turns on day 4.

Don't think I've seen a county outfield so dry for a long time as well. I'd be avoiding sliding or diving around at full pelt on that.

Dom Sibley is 29 and has recently changed some of his technique. England need a reliable opener. Hmmm…

They are doing ok. On track for a decent declaration. They will need 4 sessions to bowl them out on this pitch.

Sounds promising.

(But … is there some uncertainty about what the format etc will be next year? Thought I’d read something about “consultations” going on)
Yes, they are looking at restructuring the CC plus T20 games. There are options but one of the proposals is to have 12 teams in Division One with two 'pools' of six teams, with Division Two presumably comprising the remaining six teams. Just guessing about this but if that's implemented then one way of achieving it would be no relegation from Division One and the top two promoted from Division Two (as currently). Time will tell but think the decision is to be made very soon.

Thanks for that, bit more clarity than I had previously.
So in that scenario would the number of 4 day championship games each season be reduced?

What a pleasure it is to report that Lancs played pretty well today. After a steady start they really opened up and scored at a brisk rate until declaring with a lead of just over 500.
They then bowled well and took 3 wickets. The pitch is showing no signs of deterioration, so it will be hard work to finish the job tomorrow but we could (whisper it) get a championship win.
