Crawley's not exactly an expert at playing a moving ball either though. I'd like to see them give Sibley another chance

I’m not sure. I’d need to see more of the ‘new’ Sibley, but Crawley is unreliable.

Crawley is fine. He’s not great but over the last 3 years he’s averaging about 36, which is fine when you consider he scores quickly, has a great partnership with Duckett that’s hard to bat at because of the height and handedness difference, and when he does get in he can put up a big century.

Duckett and Crawley opening with Root, Pope, Brook, Stokes, Smith and Woakes is the best batting lineup we’ve had in years.

Lacking a superstar bowler is a much bigger problem.

Baldy has bowled beautifully in this game with an immaculate line and length. Getting his reward now with three more wickets against the lower order. Eight down now, even Lancs can’t miss from here….famous last words.

Div 1 here we come.
8 wickets in the match for Baldy, who bowled very well.

Good win , although it's only one there has been a substantial improvement in performance , especially batting since Dale Benkenstein was sacked

Absolutely.

I've written about this on here in the last few months but a really good sign for England is how settled the top 7 is, sure there's been a bit of pressure on Pope and Crawley with Bethel waiting in the wings but it's so much better to be in this situation than where we were from 2012-2022.

Been said a lot but if we can get Archer and Wood fit then we'll have our best chance since 10/11 to win down under.

I think it is a number of factors, and there have only been 2 CC games.

Chris Green added to the CC team is great for us.
Jennings losing the captaincy a few games before Benk left has led to his form improving.
The ball used is easier to score with the last 2 games.
Both CC games since Benk left have been at smaller club out-grounds, which if the wicket is okay can lead to higher scoring rates.

I don't think Benk was good for us, but everything else contributes and the problems are further up. The improvement is good to see though, and will need to win 4 out of 5 go up if there is no big CC restructure which was suggested a few months back.
