I've just liked a comment from @cleavers saying 'brain dead tactics in the last over' and I still agree with that.
Had Shafique not had his own brain fart he'd have a load more likes, too!!!

Still we won and I'm buzzing!
Loved Wood's reaction to Jonny!!!!!!

A Lancs player gets 77 off 46 deliveries in a Roses clash, effectively winning the match...and yet it's still sh"te.
Did you watch it ? Yes he top scored and at times batted well. However some of his decision making, especially at the end of the innings was attrocious, we got 3 runs in the final over mostly due to his running (or not on ball 1), then he got himself run out to bring the great batsman that is Jimmy for the last 2 (well 1) ball.

I guess we just see the overall picture differently. A very good win in the heart of enemy territory!

Yeah I said it was a very good win, and ultimately that is the "overall picture", but sensible batting in our last over, and they might have needed 10 more, not that it matters now as they imploded anyway.

We batted badly for about the last 6 overs if we're honest, probably should have got 25 more in reality. Only 4 players in double figures, and only 2 above 20.

We certainly won't win it batting like we did tonight.

We’ve still got Livingstone to come back and steady the ship…

Sounds like he might be out for a while.
The QFs are not until September so in the middle of England ODIs and the semi/final between the t20is.

Therefore if fit he is unlikely to play, and we could will lose Buttler and Salt too, maybe Wood, and the best player is only contracted for the groups, Chris Green.

Home QF but the ECB will have primacy as always.

Results of Lancs members' vote on the format of the Blast and CC from next season are in.
  • The Vitality Blast proposal was supported by a majority of 89.91% of respondents.
  • For the County Championship, Option A received a majority support of 72.56%.
Vitality Blast
  • Three groups of six teams.
  • 12 matches per team (six home).
    • Five home and away games in the group.
    • Plus, one home and away match against a team from another group.
  • Matches spaced out into six weekend blocks (Wed-Sun), making it easier for fans to attend and improving player recovery.
County Championship

Option A

First division: 12 Teams split into 2, conferences of 6.
Second division: 6 teams.

12 matches.

Five-day showcase final between the two division 1 conference winners. £1m prize pot. Promotion play-off in division 2. Two teams promoted/relegated.

Lancs statement reads:

We fully acknowledge and respect all feedback received throughout the process. We also wish to once again apologise for the short timeframe set by the ECB and we appreciate the frustration expressed by some of our Members. The Club shares this frustration.

It’s important to acknowledge that some Members may have preferred to retain the existing structure. However, we want to reiterate that maintaining the status quo is not under consideration as a viable option by the ECB, PGC, or PCA. Including such an option in this vote would have been misleading, and therefore it was not presented. While a small number of counties (currently understood to be five) have indicated a preference to retain the current format, the broader consensus recognises the need to evolve and invest in the future of our competitions.

As Lancashire Cricket has maintained, the Club believes retaining 14 County Championship matches was only possible if two rounds could be played at the same time as The Hundred. As previously mentioned, this does not have the support of the majority of counties and so has been ruled out by the ECB.

As committed, the outcome of this Member vote will be included in Lancashire’s formal submission to the ECB - reflecting the collective voice of our membership - which we'll be pleased to do early next week, ahead of the Emirates Old Trafford Test Match.

I wonder how the T20 Blast groups will be split?

Maybe...

Northern:

Lancashire
Yorkshire
Durham
Derbyshire
Nottinghamshire
Leicestershire

Central:

Northamptonshire
Warwickshire
Gloucestershire
Worcestershire
Glamorgan
Somerset (I really hope it's them and not Essex)

The posh boys:

Surrey
Middlesex
Hampshire
Sussex
Essex
Kent

As primarily a Northants fan I'm not exactly thrilled with the prospect of that group. It seems a bit lacking compared to the other groups and I'll miss the fixtures against the likes of Lancashire, Yorkshire, Notts (Trent Bridge what a ground) etc.

Never liked Warwickshire for some reason and the rest of the teams don't really have that star power imo. Even Northants seems the bigger team against most of those teams when it comes to T20. And if it's Essex instead of Somerset then it'll be even worse.

To be honest I'd prefer it if it was just totally random each year. 6 teams together regardless of geography. That way you might get a better balance.

Yeah, it'll be three regionalised groups of six and don't think you'll be far wide of the mark with those groupings. They're trying to maintain 'rivalries' but there will have to be some give somewhere.

I actually see Derbyshire as our biggest rivals and with this new format it seems unlikely we'll play them.

There's been some great games between the two teams.

Interesting. Yeah, there will be geographical quirks like that where there are rivalries but not because the counties are right next door to each other. Hopefully they'll mix it up a bit. One of the reasons they are proposing regionalisation is to reduce travelling times which is understandable but also means foregoing some tasty fixtures.

I see England have been fined for their slow over rate at Lord's. But India haven't. Strange. IIRC, both sides were poor in that regard?

It looks weird, but somehow all the allowances meant that England were... 2 overs short. That's it. It seems baffling that it could be that close.

As England were that close, presumably India just snuck within acceptable limits.

An innings of less than 80 overs doesn't count to any over rate calculations, so neither second innings count.
