Incredible game at the Oval, Middx overhauled 250 odd by Surrey.

But no Foakes! JB struggles with gentle off spin, he’s no chance with a leg spinner that turns it…Rehan Ahmed called up for the second test. Interesting.

Isn’t he a part-time leggie?Just a question for those more up to date with English cricket, would Liam Livingston be considered an option as a off spinner for test cricket. obviously dynamic with the bat and used to bowling under pressure although in the shorter formats but why is he not an option.
Foakes plays in the last test and we almost certainly win it.Foakes was never going to play though.
Bairstow is arguably our third best batsman after Root & Brook/Pope and he was in the form of his life up until his unfortunate injury.
There have been numerous times where we could have dropped Crawley with good reason. But he played a fine knock in the first innings and Duckett has a test average of well over 40. Rightly or wrongly, I think we’re likely to persist with the openers for now unless there’s an injury.
Thank you I`m out of touch with the county scene. I just watch Ali and question if he is the best option we have. Livingston is a better bat and from this first test performance Ali really didn`t look a threat with the ball.Isn’t he a part-time leggie?
Nowhere near test standard - with bat or ball - from what I’ve seen. Don’t forget what happened when we played Jason Roy in the last Ashes in England….
Will Jacks and Liam Dawson are both above him in the pecking order.
I agree with you! Merely trying to point out that his omission from the second test squad isn’t surprising.Foakes plays in the last test and we almost certainly win it.
Great means if ali is struggling he be second option! Got the feeling that we won’t play a spinner
Doesn't make any sense to call him up if we don't plan on playing a spinner. He'll be there in case Moeen's cut hasn't healed sufficiently. I still think Wood for Jimmy will be the only change otherwise.
She and I actually batted together for the Manwood’s cricket team around 2005. She ran me out :(Tammy Beaumont (my favourite) batting like a dream for the England Women.
Only the 8th woman to score a double ton in test cricket, and the first English woman to do so. Looks like she's going to run out of partners before she can break the all time record (242).Tammy Beaumont (my favourite) batting like a dream for the England Women.

The Ashes: England must prioritise winning, not just the spectacle after first Test defeat, says Mark Butcher
A thrilling Ashes opener ended with Australia pipping England by two wickets at Edgbaston to take a 1-0 series lead to Lords; watch the second Ashes Test, live on Sky Sports Cricket from Wednesdaywww.skysports.com
Brilliant article from mark butcher and perfectly sums up how I’m feeling
I wouldn’t say the aussies are boring tbh. I think the ashes calls for winning cricket first and foremost. We should have won the last match but now we are well up against it. Anyways bring on WednesdayWe will go back to be boring kunts like the Aussies and the rest when Stokes McCullum either retire or sacked!
