How many of our players actually play 50 over cricket?
The ECB have dumbed down the competition by playing at the same time as the 100.
So Livingstone, Buttler etc.. only play 50over cricket at International level.

I know other teams manage but their players are top players who can play all forms, like Root, Brooks, and Stokes.

Totally agree, it's little wonder we've turned to shite, none of these players played in the one day cup this summer, playing in that made up shite the hundred.

All about money, not cricket.

If we win the toss batting 1st might be the way forward. As someone else said only Malan and Root seem to understand you have time in 50 over cricket to build an innings. The bowling looks very average on Wood and Adil seem to offer any control.Fuck knows how Woakes is playing.

I’d keep Root, Malan and Brooks. Buttler as captain probably won’t drop himself either.

That leaves Bairstow, Livingstone or a bowler.

Our bowling is so poor that maybe we need to slog away and hope to get enough to defend.

We have come into this undercooked and it's showing. We completely misread the pitch and conditions yesterday which didn't help. I wouldn't make drastic changes, but if you could pick again you'd bring Moeen and Atkinson in for Woakes and Curran. We bat deep in English conditions, but a lot of these players will struggle if the pitch is turning. So make sure you have bowlers that can take wickets or bowl a good economy and concentrate on getting a score with the main batsmen you pick.

Hopefully Stokes can come back in. I'd certainly drop Woakes now and probably Curran as well. Depending on the balance of the side and conditions, Moeen, Willey and Atkinson should all be in consideration. Do you go Livingstone or Moeen rather than both?

A few questions, but I don't think it's drastic. You'd expect a couple of changes here and there depending on the pitch. There's a lot more variation in a country the size of India.

Thinking about epic collapses does anyone else remember the 1993 B&H Cup game between Surrey and Lancashire?

It was shown live on BBC1 and Lancashire crawled to 236. Surrey then got to 212-1 needing 25 to win off the last 6 overs they then proceeded to lose 9 wickets for 18 runs to be all out for 230 and Lancashire winning by 6 runs

I took my mum out for tea that night. When I went out Lanky were down and out. No mobile phone with internet, watched the highlights on tv later and was staggered that we had won.
