Lords is Lords. It's always going to have the pop of champagne bottles and the older purist fans who sit there quietly chatting to each other. The only time it's ever been anything different is the Bairstow run out in the Ashes - even the MCC old boys got feisty that day.

The Oval is a great atmosphere and would be much more like the atmosphere you get at Edgbaston etc.

Common at the two London grounds for visiting teams' fans to be the most vociferous. You should have heard the West Indians in their pomp. I didn't see them in the eighties, but I did see them at Lords and the Oval in the late sixties and seventies. Steel bands, and all kinds of racket going on. Very raucous. Some good backchat to the outlying fielders on the boundary too.
