Definitely needle going on on this tour. And definitely a good thing. Shows that cricket, especially test cricket, still matters. That it's not this genteel strawberries and cream thing for gentlemen in boaters, from the Edwardian age.

impressive.

Looks like Hartley basically went berserk when Green was out? The BBC scorecard has 43 added in 14 balls, including the wicket of Hartley. Taking into account that Anderson faced 3, 41 off 10 balls.
I think that's the highest score by a Number 10 (incoming in at fall of 8th wicket) in all of County Cricket, beating 123 by Jason Gillespie in 2007 for the Yorkies.

Another absolute disgrace of a pitch down in Somerset. Day 2, the games about to end and there's pillars of dust exploding out of the surface every time the ball pitches. Not the first time at that ground either.

it's a weird scorecard
1st innings - all seam wickets
2nd innings - half the wickets to spin, after the first 3 batsmen got in
3rd innings - two spinners opened the bowling, taking all 10
4th innings - two spinners open the bowling, take half the wickets before Banton decides to end it as fast as possible.

Very odd for a seamer to prosper for 2 1/2 hours, and then it to turn into a spinner's paradise.

35 wickets fell in 150 odd overs. Do they still inspect pitches when loads of wickets have fallen? With points deducted if the pitch was deemed substandard?

I notice they are playing at Cheltenham, don’t know what the wicket is like there but if Lanky’s 9th wicket put on over 200 I assume taking 20 wickets won’t be easy. Remember going to watch Lancs at Bristol in the 1980’s in the Gillette or Nat West cup, over 650 runs in the day, which in those days was a lot
I recall going to Bristol for a Nat West Trophy game in the late 80s, very tight game. Just looked it up, it was 1989, Gloucs batted first and got a mammoth 174/7 off 60 overs (including 30 extras) and Lancs scraped home by one wicket off the final ball. How times have changed with the way one-dayers are played now....and largely for the better!
