Given we don’t have a top class spinner, given the injury records of our pace bowlers, given the records of our batsmen down under and given that we haven’t beaten India or Australia at home with Stokes/McCullum then anything less than a 5-0 defeat in the Ashes will be a surprise.

Looking at the 100 squads both men and women - looks like there’s a few teams particularly in the South heavily stacked with talent - where established internationals must be playing for a pittance, given the pay structure.

Anderson £37k but not a first pick they said

Wolvaart had to be a top earner at the. originals but she’s goes to the Brave - so is she a top earner at the Brave because they didn’t lose a top earner - or have they slashed the salary of an existing player. The drop off in the pay bands is quite significant.

Originals men look really poor again. Not really competitive against the Oval Invincibles. I’m guessing the new ownership will take action at the end of this years tournament. Look a shambles again today, lost with 43 balls to go!

I’m not convinced that the Aussies are top class but we shall see.

Just on the train back oop north from a fabulous day out in Taunton watching Lancashire beat Somerset.

Was touch and go tbh, I thought they hit the ball harder, timed it better, and placed it better than us, but Balderstone’s knock mid innings was superb and took us on to the platform for victory, which was still a nervy one losing so many wickets.
The Thatcher cloudy cider wasn’t bad either.

Anyway, although the train is busy, I’ve noticed I’m sharing it with a few red shirted football fans.
Pretty quiet journey tbh.

Was looking a bit nervy at one stage……well done Lancashire, now for the Yorkies Tuesday

Balders is quality and is well deserving of his County Cap, which he got last week.
Top lad too.
