We are going to have to bowl so much better than we have. If Wood can stay fit then Archer, Wood, Atkinson and probably Carse is a good seam attack. Or you drop one for a spinner/all rounder and Stokes bowls a lot as he has this summer.

The series hasn't really settled any of the big questions. We will see the same batting lineup but so much more is at stake in the Ashes. Brook can be forgiven a mighty heave and holing out against India, which started the collapse from a comfortable position, and after a great innings. The judgement will be harsher in Australia. And they'll happily set us up to swing at everything.

It should be a good series though. Their batting looks poor but that bowling attack is still so good.

We need Root to come good in Aus which he hasn’t done so far.

I don't think the Aussies will win 5.0, but England need to keep the fast bowlers Archer Wood Atkinson fully fit and play at least 3 to 4 tests in a row, Also Smith the wicket keeper is a major doubt for me, Maybe England could recall one of the old guard Foakes or Bairstow, Plus Pope could take the gloves and we bring in somebody else at 3

For the first test, I think it will be:

1. Crawley
2. Duckett
3. Pope
4. Root
5. Brook
6. Stokes (C)
7. J Smith (WK)
8. Carse
9. Atkinson
10. Archer/Wood
11. Tongue/Bashir

Sadly, I don’t think we can risk playing Archer and Wood in the same side.

It's definitely going to be a hard act to follow.

Looking at the women's game I'm worried the pitch is an absolute road with nothing in it for the bowlers.

Also maybe not the best idea to host the so called London derby when half the London Spirit team will presumably be missing*

Jamie Smith, Ollie Pope, Liam Dawson and Jamie Overton.

I'll check and see what happens nonetheless.

Just had a very quick look. Seriously? I think it's horrific. Compare it to the test match scoreboard graphics. A simple banner in the top left corner showing the score and the amount of balls bowled. With the occasional narrow banner along the bottom of the screen showing the batsmen's scores and the bowler's stats. What they have is an assault on the senses!
 
First boundary is a beautiful cover drive for four from Kane Williamson.

Have they not read the script?

This was what it was like last time round! It’s better, but from an incredibly low bar.
 
Seems like the BBC have forgotten to employ a proper 'play by play' commentator?

I like the ones they have. But they're more to provide a bit of insight rather than keep the commentary going.
 
What the fuck is the point of the 100? I end up dividing the balls bowled by 6 to get it to old style overs, and then dividing the score by that derived numbers of owners, to get a perspective on how the batting team is doing

Hope Warner now appreciates that if you adopt the Billy Big Bollox persona you need to be able to walk the walk.

Same. Why couldn't they make it a number of balls divisible by 6 (96 or 102)?"Sets" of 5 is nonsense.

He makes a good story with the Ashes coming up and probably facing some of his old adversaries like Anderson.

But he's past it really. He didn't even get picked up in the IPL auction.

Exactly the same story with Steve Smith. More there as a known name than being any good at T20.

Look at his comparison against Root in T20 Internationals. You wouldn't believe that Smith was the one who kept his position in the Australia squad for so long. Mediocre average and middling strikerate.
