The problem is I don’t thing England are worse. We’ve got some brilliant players including the number 1 and 2 rated batters in the world and decent fast bowling attack. They are just being managed and lead utterly appallingly. Stokes and McCullum were the breath of fresh air we needed at the time but they have destroyed any chance of winning down under - against a very very average Aussie team - with their arrogance and god like attitudes. What a total fuck up. I was 50/50 a few months ago about going for the Melbourne test - I’m so glad I decided not to now. I feel so sorry for those who have spent thousands for a trip of a lifetime to the first two tests. I know quite a few who have and they are all gutted!!

There's no pressure on any of the top order. Pope's spot was rumoured to be under threat to Bethell, but he's not ready for test cricket and hasn't scored a run either.

The county game is on its arse. Why? Because all the money has gone on the ********* hundred!!!!!!!

I know people who watch Lancs in all their games and they come back and will say there are some good players around. But it's hard to gauge because test bowlers aren't usually allowed to play! They have to bloody rest!!!!!!!

James Rew is a name often mentioned, but it's a big step. His brother Tom is only 18 and also well thought of.
Someone I really respect said that Joe Moores (Lancs) is very special. He predicted he'll play for England before his 21st birthday.
There are people, on here, better placed than me to give the inside track on Moores.
 
It’s a shame what stokes has spoken about this game wasn’t spoked about 12 months ago or at least after the last game! We have seen this team in big moments in control to go on and win a test match where they go for shots that’s has good chance they could get out!

So for me to late!
 
Pope record against Australia is diabolical mentally he is scared England should have thought of that before this series and told him you ain’t the team! It showed with him panicking wafting at shots being lucky then carrying on being mentally thick as pig shit! Drop him now!

I presume you're referring to Root and Brook?

Root is on a different planet.

I know this is controversial but, for me, Brook is so overrated.
Yeah, he can play. Yeah he can take the attack to the opposition, but his reading of the situation is appalling. He could be so good, but he's not hungry enough to be the best yet.

I'd have Root, Head, Markam, Bavuma, Jaiswal, Smith, Gill all in front of him and that's without me really thinking!


FWIW my daughter flies out to OZ next week and is going to Melbourne and Sydney tests with her boyfriend. Looks like she'll get plenty of extra shopping days in!!!!!!

This is England’s supposedly best set of players, facing, in some respects, Australia’s seconds, yet they’ve struggled in all three departments of the game. The last tour there was an utter shambles, but this one is threatening to make it look a comparative triumph. Like you, I sympathise with people who have invested time and money going there, but this is not a good side.

Confidence wasn’t helped by the ludicrous decision to strip him of the vice-captaincy. If you know your captain is a physical liability, which Stokes historically has been, then you are invariably going to need two vice-captains, one who can deputise the other when the actual captain is out. It’s a small point, granted, but it seemed illogical and unnecessary when it happened.

Pope is a good player but not a three and needs to go back to four for Surrey; seasons have been wasted pursuing this failed experiment. He might be offered up now as the sacrifice for events so far, but it would be misguided to think he alone is responsible, or even irresponsible…

Giving players central contracts means a total lockout of international cricket to everybody else
Once you're in, it's pretty hard to lose your place even after getting a thumping 5.0 in the Ashes series; you will still be in the frame for the next series ? Where is the reward for the player's great performance in county cricket
