They actually started making the tough decisions after the last Ashes in Australia, but then the disastrous third Test in the West Indies saw the media in hysterics and those in charge appoint McCullum. He gave England results and the media lapped it up, but that style of play always looked a thin veneer and unlikely to withstand pressure. I think they’re pretty much back to 2022 and will either have to persevere this time with a long-term overhaul of the game, or go looking for the next iteration. My tanner would be on the latter, alas.The honeymoon period is over at last it’s was a 3 year one where we seen batters fail after fail and don’t get me started on the bowling! We would have been better saying we ain’t preparing for the ashes we going to pick the best consistent bowlers and batters who can bat all day!
