Not that many poor shots across the sixteen wickets. A couple of unfortunate leaves, which is not uncommon at Lord's, but, in general, the bowlers from both sides put the ball in the right places and consistently so. Shows the benefit of prioritising accuracy and bowling at the wickets over pace and aggression.

Incredibly hard to produce a good batting pitch after a week of 35+ heat followed by huge downpours. The conditions are more a factor than the pitch today I recon.

That was my thought - the poor bounce from the start was a surprise. The wind and rain during the day make it great bowling conditions, although there was some poor batting at straight balls.

Robinson bowling high 70s. Baz and Stokes convinced he needed to be around 82-84 consistently to take wickets in test cricket.

Same reason Sam Cook got one test against Zimbabwe then ignored yet takes wickets consistently at County level and has done for years. Also took loads of wickets in Australia for the Lions before the ashes...yet still ignored.

Robinson’s performance will probably see him included in the six Tests this summer already. However, he’s only bowled 10.5 overs in this match, so we’ll need to see what he’s like bowling 20+ a day on a sunny day in August. He looked better with the bat than ball when Sussex came to Surrey recently, and he still looks as if he could shed some pounds- note to self. Notwithstanding, he has his name on the board and sounded genuinely emotional and grateful when interviewed, which was heartwarming, so best of luck to him.

Think bowlers who kiss the pitch and target the stumps are criminally overlooked in England.
