Cristiano Ronaldo

you can get 50/1 on this with Bwin (RM's sponsors) - probably tells you something!

I thought ronaldo has already stated that he would'nt sign for us out ov respect for the rags???? Also my rag mates already think he's signed for them as madrid still owe them 50m off the original transfer.

if i remember well he said that he won't sign for us for respect for fergie and for the time fergie is still their manager...tbh he has no loyalty for the rags if we offer him let's say 300.000p/week he will be here

Don't think £3 per week will do it mate ;.)

This isn't ITK, this is purely based on my wild imagination ;) but here is why Ronaldo will sign for us.

1. Fergie has retired, so now is the perfect timing/excuse as to why he could join us as he doesn't have to upset his former 'father figure' manager which was a problem in the past.

2. His recent comments over the last year have changed somewhat. To come out and suggest that he would find it very, very, very, very, very difficult (not impossible) to play for City due to his Utd past. If he would never sign for us he would come out and say so but he keeps leaving the door open whilst being very careful not to upset the rags. You don't really hear Ronaldo badmouthing us like other rags do.

3. I made a point of watching his body language when we played them in the CL at home and I thought it was interesting. He seemed to love playing the pantomime villain. There were a few cheeky smiles when he was getting booed, compare that to the way Rooney, Roy Keane, Neville, Ferdinand and even Ronaldo himself have all acted to us in the past. He did nothing controversial in that game that would piss us off apart from showcase his world class talent of course.

4. His not celebrating when scoring in both legs v Utd was totally acted out, he'd probably been practising his moves in front of his mirror all week. Everything he does is with his reputation and his CR7 brand in mind.

5. Nike are desperate to get him out of the Real Madrid kit. He's by far their most marketable player and they need him to be wearing Nike gear. However I'd think they would be interested in dealing with either Utd or us on this. Also don't forget that the Premier League is the most popular and marketable league in the world and they would much prefer to have him in England then over at PSG in France. Whatever makes them the most money.

6. Ronaldo has worked with Pellegrini in the past and by all accounts they got on well. If he believes Pellegrini is a good manager who will give him freedom on the pitch then it ticks another box. Does he have any idea or any confidence in Moyes as a manager? Does he want to risk his reputation at a club who will be going through a major transition. Huge risk.

7. As I said, Ronaldo is all about building his brand, if he went back to Utd sure he would be extremely marketable but I think City as a brand would explode (we're already the fastest growing club in terms of commercial revenue) if he joined and he knows it would be because of him. Add to that the fact that we talked about setting up soccer schools in his name around the world too. I think the Sheik would look at ways of making Ronaldo rich that wouldn't stop with his weekly pay packet.

8. If rumours are true we're starting to build a pretty good relationship with Real Madrid. Ronaldo is certainly a cash cow for them but they might feel his time there is up if they get adequate replacements. Bale and Aguero would suit them I think. And if Real Madrid were going to sell Ronaldo, would they seriously contemplate selling him to their closest rivals for worldwide brand dominance? Sell him to Utd and the rags commercially fly past Real Madrid. Selling him to us wouldn't have the same effect just yet.

9. I might be imagining this but didn't Ronaldo suggest he would like to play in USA one day? Do something similar to Beckham? Well, who has just bought a MLS club in the biggest city financially in America? He could join us in his prime before finishing off at New York.

It's all about the money and to me this all makes too much sense for Ronaldo and City to not happen.

This is going to be like the DDR thread all over again, got me fingers burnt in there not getting them burned in here. :-)

since pelleginis more or less admitted he's coming to us Tranny hasn't played fo Madrid . Jose made out he'd pretended to be injured which he'd never done before .

We are a massive club now, we can make these types of signings happen that will shock the world. It would be the biggest transfer ever given his links to the red half of Manchester and send shockwaves around Europe.

There's more chance of BoyBlue_1985 playing for City than Ronaldo.
