We can sell Ronaldo the CFG progression plan too. Come to city for a year, maybe 2, win stuff at the very top and play under the greatest manager, then you can have your swansong over in New York for as many seasons as you can play for. There's nothing that doesn't make sense other than him being an ex rag.
Down to 2/3 things stopping this. How willing Juve are to release him for free or a nominal fee at best, is Pep willing to have the Ronaldo circus brand and everything that comes with it in his side when he typically doesn't like egos and whether we can make the space in the squad for him.
(Also incorporate the fact he's one of the best striker around, available, wants to come, better than anything we have and is very much what we need into the scenario somehow)

To stay in your scenario. What if you had a toxic relationship with your dad, he beat and abused you as a kid growing up and humiliated you at every opportunity, you were too small and weak to do anything back. Times passed, you've grown up and are now much stronger than your aging fading father who still tries to belittle you. Knowing that your dad still pines for that ex wife every day since she left would you not want to fuck her as some kind of karmic revenge?
