Cristiano Ronaldo

It’s the lack of forward planning that’s worrying. A striker to play with / phase out Sergio should’ve been bought in Summer 2019. If signing Ronaldo is such a good strategy why weren’t we interested in him then or last summer ?
In 2019, we wouldn't have imagined Sergio would be finished, it wouldn't have been in our plans for Sergio to be done this early, plus we had jesus for that role. it's alright saying bring in somebody to take over the mantle but squad limits exist, we would have to give them all game time and Sergio wasn't old enough to be phasing out and limiting his game time at that stage.

As for why wasn't he in our plans last year, he wasn't available for a start, nobody would envisage either side would entertain the idea given his past and we had identified other players. Many things have happened since, a lot out of our control and its come to a situation where Ronaldo is doable and its by far the best option we have this summer (better than Kane in my eyes) it's not a long term issue but we now have a year or 2 to solve the issue which gives us time to watch the market and snap up whoever becomes available.

Because we have been after a striker all summer, and haven't been able to get our priority target.

And now have the opportunity to get pretty much the most proven goal scorer (alongside Messi) in football for a far cheaper fee to plug the gap for a couple of years.

It's certainly a wacky signing on paper, but it also certainly fits with Citys (and his) needs. We need someone to finish the chances we create, he wants to be somewhere he can pad his stats and gives him chances at major trophies - the pieces have just fallen in place.

Will wait to see if it happens, I still find it hard to believe, but it has started to look at the very least like its a possibility.
why do Juventus want rid, because he's finished.

Source re creeping through?
It's all over the place mate. Nothing concrete, just City aren't the only club being offered Ronaldo, but we're the only ones with the financial muscle, who're in need of a striker who've been mentioned....... That was until Real stepped in with two solid bids for Mbappé, meaning PSG are a striker short, & one signing away from a Hollywood front three of Messi, Ronaldo & Neymar for an additional £30m tops.

Something tells me this has Ronaldo to PSG all over it.... Can you just imagine the global fanfare? PSG will become football's equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters. :-|
