Criticism of Pep

Pep, like all managers will be judged solely on his results.

We are no closer to winning the Champions League now than we were when he arrived.

I would honestly love to be wrong (because it would mean we are European Champions) but there is a mounting body of evidence (3 years at Bayern and 3 years here) that his emphasis on the process of playing football rather than ruthless efficiency is not effective at the highest level.

If he delivers great, if he doesn't, he goes. Our owners want the Champions League and so do many of our fans.

Too many sentimental people on here defending him. City first, Pep a distant second.

Too many people living in the recent past. Thanks for the last 2 years Pep, now deliver.
I’ll never stop defending him from half the shite written on this board.

The outcome of a football match is not totally down to the coach and that there are huge number of variables so I don't agree with your conclusions re the Champions League. I also think that City could get beat against Real madrid and still have a good season. The ultimate barometer is the league. City will challenge very strongly for the league next season.

In the eyes of us City fans he is a great manager.

He has delivered us domestic success beyond our wildest dreams. No one can argue with that.

Lets us not forget though he spent a shit load of money along the way.And has been fully dependent on signings that he didn't even make like Vinny,David Silva,Aguero.A bit like his time at Barcelona where he inherited some of the best young players in the World lin Messi etc.

Like i said in my post, his style is not Rocket science.Simply buy some of the best attacking players in the World and out score the opposition every game.It is entertaining to watch.

Works until you come up against near equals like the better teams in Europe. This is when it all unravels a bit.You can not win the Champions League by going to Liverpool/Madrid and trying to out score them on their own patch. You need a Plan B.Hence why in my opinion he will never win the Champions League and be recognized as a truly great manager.
Stick to comedy. Sorry too easy.

You have a small point in that I believe Pep loves open attacking football which gives opposing teams a chance but I'll take that. We are very very lucky to have him as our coach. Accept the way he plays.

Think Gorton Blue has a point though.

Pep does seem to have developed significant shortcomings when in the CL, stemming from his time at Bayern. We look even weaker this season and without playing Fernandinho in the middle I don't see how we're going to get much further. To me there's a clear failure to adapt and be more pragmatic, rather than stick to ideals.

I know people are stuck in their old ways of solely wanting domestic success, but times have changed and so has our ambition. To kick onto the next level as a club we need to win the Champions League and I can 100% guarantee our owners hold the same view.

He could lose in Europe every year as long as he wins domestic trophies, that's just my opinion of course but I am very much anti UEFA and CL, measuring his success against that cup is a mistake.

I think you are out of step with the ambitions our owners have for our club; their expectations exceed yours.

“He will never win the Champions league”

Are you certain? Think back.

This has got to be the worst thought out posts in a long while. If it’s a wind up...you win.

I get it. You love Pep and have a poster of him on your bedroom wall. I couldn't care less about his feelings or his reputation. I just want City to be the best team in the world.
