Criticism of Pep

This is a really often repeated pile of bullshit and it's really sad IMO that people just parrot it instead of looking at what happens.

The Liverpool game when Pep put Gundogan on the right is a perfect example. People constantly pretend like it had any relevance to the defeat which is just not true at all. The tactics and set up for that game were really good, and we started the game on top, with 70% possession, creating chances, forcing a couple of corners and then we were undone by an individual error.

1st goal, Liverpool attack down the left, we defend OK despite Otamendi slipping, Ederson saves and then Walker miscontrols the ball to Salah, open goal, 5 yards out. Nothing to do with formation.

2nd goal, loose ball drops to Oxlade-Chamberlain and he lashes it in from 30 yards. Nothing to do with formation.

3rd goal, Liverpool cross from the left, Kompany just doesn't track Mané and loses him and the ball.

We didn't lose that goal because of the formation, the game was over before the formation even came into it, and yet it's constantly pointed to as Pep "over thinking" because it's a narrative. Similarly people say he's not pragmatic, which is genuinely nonsense, he's the most pragmatic manager in the game, and putting Gundogan in the lineup over Sterling was all about pragmatism, dropping a forward for another midfielder to block up the middle of the pitch which is how Liverpool were scoring all their goals that season.
It’s not bullshit it’s my opinion.l get you don’t like my point of view but he did fuck up that day just as he did against Spurs last season. He is the best manager we’ve ever had but he is not above criticism. You have your view I have mine. I also have not parroted anybodies opinion, as that team came out that night I texted my mate to say that the team was weird and I felt we would get beat, he didn’t need to show how clever he was, we already knew what a great coach was.

and Delph.....

Zinchy played there every week with delph as well, they were quick learners but they had game after game to learn the position, last night we had zinchy and angel fit but he puts a rb in there,we had eric jnr and john on the bench but he puts rodders in,as a one off are they supposed to do a good job? it throws the rest out surely?
and Cancelo played well there last night, regarding quick learning Delph and Zinky, we won lots of games whilst "learning", Peps lauded when it works but castigated when the forwards fail to put the ball in the back of the net

Are you insane?
Klopp has been at Liverpool 4 and a half years. He has yet to win a trophy here.
That is about to end granted. But before he does it's quite likely we will have won 6 of the last 7 major domestic trophies. And if you want to throw in the Charity shield make that 8 from 9.

Ah yes. The Charity Shield. How could I have forgotten?

In the eyes of us City fans he is a great manager.

He has delivered us domestic success beyond our wildest dreams. No one can argue with that.

Lets us not forget though he spent a shit load of money along the way.And has been fully dependent on signings that he didn't even make like Vinny,David Silva,Aguero.A bit like his time at Barcelona where he inherited some of the best young players in the World lin Messi etc.

Like i said in my post, his style is not Rocket science.Simply buy some of the best attacking players in the World and out score the opposition every game.It is entertaining to watch.

Works until you come up against near equals like the better teams in Europe. This is when it all unravels a bit.You can not win the Champions League by going to Liverpool/Madrid and trying to out score them on their own patch. You need a Plan B.Hence why in my opinion he will never win the Champions League and be recognized as a truly great manager.
If it wasn’t for var, he would of already had a great chance to be that, in fact ironically so that this years var rules would not of allowed llorentes winner had it been implemented last year. If a daft rule has had such an effect on his ambitions it’s ridiculous to say that his plan is flawed.
The only criticism I can levy on pep was not signing a central defender when it looked like an injury could damage us.
It must of completely passed some by that what we achieved last year was truly history making and therefore Pep must also go down as such.
He isn’t perfect and never could be but wow what a job he has done and will do.

Go on then.

Actually explain how Pep playing Gubdogan made us lose that match.

Put some substance behind your opinion, as I did when I pointed out how it didnt effect the game at all.

FA and League Cups are great to win but both competitions have been degraded. They are where everyone plays their reserves.

Liverpool are everyone now? Most teams play some reserves but not only reserves. Once teams reach the quarterfinals and see a real chance to reach the final, they play mostly their best XI. Even Liverpool will do it if they progress further and start dream about a double or treble.
