Crystal Palace (A) I PL I Post Match Thread

We are the team with the best attack and best GD in the league.

It wasn't the greatest performance but the team spirit is fantastic.

Top performances:

Nunes
Cherki (the player Liverpool thought were buying from Leverkusen)
O'Reilly
Haaland (just a machine)

Foden's finish was brilliant.

I'll be surprised if the bookies don't change the odds for City winning the league. They should be similar to Arsenal's (maybe shorter, mind).

O’Reilly is such a steady player. I don’t think I’ve seen him have a bad game.

This was different to recent games, we were rubbish in the first half and lucky not to be three or four one down, but really good in the second half.
On what basis were we lucky not to be 3 or 4 down in the first half when they only had 4 shots on target in the entire match?

That's like saying after a match where we've had 25 shots that we were unlucky not to have scored 25 goals.

It's incredible how well we are doing considering half the team is crap, the manager doesn't know what he's doing and we need another 10 new signings in January according to his lot. Obviously it must be down to pure luck. Fuck knows how they coped in the decade between '83 and '03.
Once we get to 40 points I shall breathe more easily.

Missed the entire second half, haven't read anything on here, what's the genuine verdict on the performance?
2nd half I'm thought we were largely in control

They had a few half chances but don't recall Donnarumma making a save, or us being under any real pressure, and once we got the 2nd it was game over

Personally, I thought Palace huffed and puffed, and we didnt really have to work too hard

Great end to what's been a pretty flawless few weeks

It's not about severity.

Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball or a challenge for the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.), the offending player must be sent off.

Was Henderson challenging for the ball or was he holding Savinho's leg?
I think "holding Savinho's leg" is a bit of a stretch, but it was clearly a red card offence, there was no attempt to play the ball. In fact the ball had already gone.

They did hit the bar and post. They were decent I thought. It was a good performance from us.

Great result, good performance against a decent side, but still i found two things that peed me off. Firstly , that kit is dreadful and secondly, how bad the tv camera work was at Selhurst park. I will get over it though.
Phew, that's a relief.

ha ha i had haaland cam for 4 minutes while game being played then pep n glasner then glasner cam and some random palace defender how anyone watching sky could pick motm is baffling

Agreed. And this approach is needed when players are tired and playing every 3 or 4 days.
We had a bit of luck today ,but ultimately our class shone thru when it mattered.
Griity performance,away from home,clean sheet,3 pts,Job done.
And breathe.....; )

Even at 2.0 up, I could never settle; We had to kill the game and get the 3rd and we did, would have liked Savinho to finish it but he got the 2nd prize of the pen, City are getting there and starting to build something

I can't help thinking that Rodri could be our modern day Colin Bell re his injury. Keeps battling back..breaking down etc. I wonder why the pundits have never really held Arteta (thunderbird twat) to account for sending his team out to knobble him.. that challenge in first few mins was deliberate and that's what did Rodri really. If it was us, we would have been publicly slated, hung drawn and quartered. We need to be more vocal.. i didn't hear us on the radio once talking about the deliberate tactic...to one of the few Ballon d'or winners to play in the country. Meeeeja just smirked!
It was virtually impossible to tell from every camera angle except the one shown on the City channel from the stand behind the goal (so most people haven't seen it), but the dig in the ribs he got right at the very start, at the kick off, was actually very deliberate and went unseen and therefore unpunished. Had that been spotted they would have been down to 10 men for the entire match, but more importantly it's proof that they deliberately set out to target him.

It's a good win against a good team that's getting results. You can't knock it how good a result that is. Midweek Brentford rest as many as we can. It's a shame the AFCON is on. I do wonder who we can bring in as striker as I wonder if Savinho or Bobb be tried up front for that game.
Why would we rest as many as we can, win on Wednesday and we're 2 games from Wembley again winning brings winning. Wasn't our best performance today but perhaps one of our best results.
