Crystal Palace (H) - Post-Match Thread

Laportes challenge was crap, but any competent ref would know Walker who is a yard away could easily overtake Zaha with his pace and put a tackle in

Laporte wasn't the last man it was 2 on 1.

Terrible reffereeing from a useless **** of a man
If that thought comforts you, hang on to it. There was no one behind Laporte

"Walker was a yard away" what's your point?

He, Walker was behind the ball, hence Laporte was the last man, in the present rules, it's a clear and rightful red.

If Laporte had a brain , he would have been aware Walker was near, would not have made a challenge and Walker with his pace and power could have dealt with the threat, he did not, because like nearly every game is caught dreaming and flat footed.

IF, the situation was reversed and their CB was yellowed and not red carded this board would have exploded and the conspiracy merchants would be out in force.

I am starting to think it is time for a rebuild of this team and a new manager since Pep looks like he is out the door in 18 months. As for this season to early to throw in the towel but it feels different from last year when I always felt we had that extra gear I fear we might get left behind.
Last year was exceptional in every way, not least the grounds having no fans inside.

The pressure is on because the fans are back in stadiums, it's a huge difference.

Parts of this team DO need a rebuild and probably have for a time, midfield and attack without doubt.

The position of manager will be a huge call, but that's not a argument for today.

The point is the rules of the game, llast man is if there is no other chance of a player catching up with the forward, aporte was one on one and pulled him down 25-30 yards from goal, but was the possibility another defended would have caught him before being in a goal scoring oportunity?

The answer is yes because walker was not far off and is the fastest player on the pitch.

It was a yellow card

The point that Walker "could" have got back is irrelevant, Laporte WAS THE LAST MAN, hence the red card.

Remember Vinnys red card in the derby against Rooney, similar to yesterday, harsh? yes, but was it a red card? YES

Also and the main point, ANY COACH would tell a player never go to ground in a challenge that far from goal, idiotic, shambolic defending from an International, if that was Maguire you would piss yourself laughing.

Last man is a fan nade concept, he was sent off for under the laws of the game a professional foul.

Those rules state:
Under the Laws of the Game, what constitutes an obvious goalscoring opportunity is left to the discretion of the referee; however, several factors are given to help referees decide. These are the distance between the offence and the goal, the likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball, the direction of the play, and the location and number of defenders

If either
A) it was far enough out that eddie may have intercepted and kicked it away or
B) another defender could have caught up

Then it ins't a red, mariner is just a lazy **** and went for the easy option, poor refereeing

The only lazy, unprofessional **** was Laporte, pathetic, weak defending and as said earlier, it's hardly a first.

This has happened many times this season, yesterday he got caught and rightly punished, he needs defensively to wake up and severely up his game.

On the ball distribution is outstanding , he helps us brilliantly but called me old fashioned, he is a CB, and when the sh1t hits the fan, he can't defend, unlike his partner Dias.

They don’t award cards on the speed of a defender. It was a red as last man
