Crystal Palace (H) - Post-Match Thread

Need to bring Mahrez and Gundogan back in for the next game. They both have an eye for goal which we seem to lack at the moment. Back four picks itself for the derby. Rodders, Bernardo and Gundog in midfield and a front three of Foden, Mahrez and Palmer to give the Rags something different to think about.

Just seen MOTD and saw the Jonny Evans incident with Aubamayang.

Highlights, as said many times in this thread, how the referees can influence the game. Whatever your view on whether Laporte should have seen red or not, the Evans one was far more of a straight red yet the ref never for one moment looked like he considered pulling that card. Contrast with Marriner who never had any other thought than pulling his red, in fact he couldn’t wait to get it out. Then of course var just won’t reverse those decisions, which is the complete fanny of it all.
Due to the distance to goal I automatically thought that it would be a yellow and was shocked when he pulled the red. As he was walking to give the card I was wondering what he was getting in his ear as he was looking down to the floor and wonder if VAR was having a word.

The referee, with his ignorance of flying challenges and allowing time wasting from the off, had a huge influence on the game and from an early stage had the players frustrated with play. Sort of reminded me of the Chelsea game under Taylor, the way our players and fans were getting so wound up.

one thing for certain ,Mancini's team wins that. they were real fighters . Vinny , Kolorov etc would have snapped those cunts in half, the ref would of got it too.

this lot are soft arse fancy Dans, just like the manager .

Is it just me that ls sanguine about yesterday? First of all it was Palace, who are, its safe to say, our bogey team. Also, we seem to have a head scratcher at home every season, and maybe this is our one for this season.

Liverpool only gained a point on us due them drawing at home so they're still safely within touching distance and Chelsea, I'm convinced, will drop points in the future and they've had a lucky last two fixtures against the worst 2 sides in the league

This time last year we were in 8th place and there were still some more bad results to go until we embarked on that title winning run. It wouldn't surprise me if them lot got a result against us next week but I'll still feel the same about the season.

Keep calm and carry on.
I know what you mean you kind of expect us to be able to pull something out of the bag and go on a decent run. Its just that this year feels a bit different and it might not be as easy. Anyway timevwill tell.

I know KDB not at his best but he is still the most positive midfielder and drives us forward. KDB has probably played the false 9 better than anyone. Foden provides 10 times more threat than Grealish so I agree move Phil back there, Jesus performances have dropped from 1st 2 games so happy with Maurer back. Basically agree but KDB not Palmer.

What I was thinking, frankly. We've won three of the last four titles. So the conspiracy needs to be tighter. If conspiracy there is.
What I do now think — what seems undeniable — is that there is a specific hostility to us, in the general way of things. Both from UEFA, and from the media. When I think back on it, we didn't get anything like the credit we should have got for doing that treble.
I don't think we got a fair crack of the whip yesterday, by the way, and I think it was a harsh sending off. Zaha was dropping to the ground as soon as he felt his arms on him. You can look at it fifty times. No pulling seems to take place at that point. That said, Laporte should be cannier than that. He's shown that kind of naivety before.
Problem is, fans — all of them — only really pay attention when their own team gets a rough deal. It's a selective perspective. I can count the number of league matches I watch during the season which don't involve City on one hand. Am I alone in that?
Laporte gave the referee a decision to make, end of.

The entitlement of our fan base is becoming obnoxious.

Opponents not allowed to defend and god forbid time waste. Players not allowed to tackle our players.

Opponents not sitting back and allowing us to run rings around then and score 5 goals a game.

Referees not allowed to make correct calls against us.

Media not allowed to write the truth when we play badly.

Hardly surprising that a lot of fans now hate us, when we were once their second favourite team/club.

We are becoming what we hated the rags for, entitled.
