Crystal Palace Thread - 2022/23

Why would anyone want uncle woy back? He is going to bring no new ideas, no new tactical plans nothing he wasnt doing in the 80s/90s so there has to be another reason for resurecting a Dinosaur manager .

Eduoard need to get out of Palace, Palace have a tendence to destroy strikers (Benteke) get to a attacking team that suits him. Or back to Ligue 1 or Bundesliga
The signs were already there at the end at Liverpool to be fair

That would be interesting because haven't they already been down this route before with Sam or was that the previous ownership?

It really doe's show though including Lampard and Gerrard that the old adage that great players don't always make great managers to be true.

Having said that? Although Palace aren't on the same scale as the clubs the other two have managed I think it's fair to say Viera really hasn't had anything like the financial backing quota of say an Aston Villa/Everton.

Back to the original point though? and casting an eye around given the limited time of the season left I think Sam is really the only realistic option available - unless they go really 'left field' and appoint an unexpected name 'completely out of the blue.

Be an interesting one this. But I'd imagine it will get resolved quickly as logic says somebody will already have been sounded out.
Parish is still the controlling shareholder, and yes, he did appoint Sam after the extremely short-lived De Boer experiment (4 games into the season)

Feel very sorry for Paddy. Steve Parish definitely seems to have a quick trigger finger.

Vieira took charge of a squad that had just lost 11 players and had been playing dire park the bus hoofball without a decent target man for the last 4 or 5 years under Woy, didn’t have much to spend but got them playing decent football for a season, then dropped off a bit… but they’ve just had the worst run of games you could possibly ask for this season in the Prem and after the next game have pretty much the opposite run coming up.

He even got Benteke to start scoring again in his first season, and Benteke goals are like ten leaf clovers

They’re the top rung of the long list of relegation battle still going on in the table at this stage

What does Simon Jordan think about this ?
Something vague about “optics”, standard Owners’ Union line, and contradicting himself over and over.

His opposite number will point out a flaw in one of his many positions and he’ll say “that’s not the argument, the argument is… yada yada yada…”

Disgraceful decision. Patrick Vieira revolutionised how they played. They failed to back him and their attack lacks a focal point and quality. They had an easier run of fixtures to come as well. Pathetic and cowardly snd deserve to go down with decisions like that.

He has done nothing to suggest we should ever look to him I’m afraid.
