Crystal Palace Thread - 2022/23

The managerial roundabout spins again, what giddy dinosaur of a manager gets to fuck up again ?

The season started with Gerrard, Lampard and Vieira, three of the best midfielders in the Premier League and all of them have been sacked. How the mighty have fallen.

Some of the best managers that the top flight in English football has seen weren't exceptional footballers. Ferguson, Paisley, Fagan, Wenger. None of them were standouts as players, really. Being good as a player is no guarantee you'll do the business as a manager, though it does give you a better understanding of the game. Totally different skillset required to manage a side, though.

It seems strange that the Palace board has waited all week to make this decision/announcement.

Maybe they were waiting until they had a replacement lined up before making it public.

The new manager effect will impact a team's performance. But that effect is strongest immediately after an appointment.

Making a change at a key moment in season can have a significant impact on results, but it will be less pronounced earlier in the season as it will have less impact on long term results.

Teams that lose popular managers are worth betting against unless they can find a replacement of a similar calibre.

think it was the right time for the bottom clubs to change managers , however if vieira was popular then this could go drastically wrong for palace.

I was listening to Gary neville talk about Zaha last week against city and I could swear he's a modern day pele. If thats the case then he deserves to be fired.
