CSKA Moscow Away Behind Closed Doors?

It is a fair punishment and will save Yaya etc getting abuse.

This event was foreseeable also, I couldn't go there myself with what happened over the summer.

Hopefully, the lazy overpaid fuck will boycott the game.

Not read all the posts but if you haven't, see the official website, extract below.

Manchester City is cognisant of the fact that fans will be affected by this unforeseen turn of events and encourage all supporters who have made non-refundable travel arrangements to email proof of such arrangements to mcfc@mcfc.co.uk, referencing the supporter numbers of all impacted fans, by 5pm on Tuesday 7 October.

And people wonder why we can't fill the stadium for a CL match.

UEFA is a body set up by the elite for the elite and is a gravy train for its management team, they do not care a jot about the match going fans - the true supporters of football.

They allow such teams to participate in their competition when in truth they should be thrown out and banned, they also rig the draw so that these teams don't play their political enemies.

The next World Cup will also be played in this very same country, will all matches be behind closed doors?

you are spot on.

I'd like to see the draw made like the lotto. ALL the balls in the drum, you play who the fuck comes out. no human feels the warm from the cold balls.

The statement from Uefa made no mention of MCFC receiving compensation for loss of ticket sales at Etihad due to ban on travelling Moscovites!

No mention of the same Moscovites being barred from Munich!

Are Uefa penalising MCFC unfairly again.

How does this penalise City - the tickets for CSKA are now sold for home supporters instead! Problem is - can we sell them, though it could be said that it is an opportunity for a continuous singing section to improve the 'atmosphere'. Don't hold your breath though.

Get the price right and we can have a full ground of blues for this one. Great chance for an Atmosphere experiment by having the designated away section devoted to a singing section. Lots of time to organise and get sorted. A full end of singing blues behind the goal would be a sight worth seeing and hearing.

Manchester City Football Club has today been informed of the outcome of a review by UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary body into an incident in the UEFA Champions League match between AS Roma and CSKA Moscow on 17 September.

CSKA Moscow has had a number of sanctions imposed, amongst which are restrictions on their home and away games in the UEFA Champions League competition.

Included in these sanctions is the forthcoming Manchester City group stage game to be held at the Arena Khimki, Moscow on Tuesday 21 October.

This game will now take place behind closed doors.

Furthermore, CSKA Moscow are banned from selling tickets to travelling supporters for the return fixture to take place at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 5 November.

Manchester City is cognisant of the fact that fans will be affected by this unforeseen turn of events and encourage all supporters who have made non-refundable travel arrangements to email proof of such arrangements to mcfc@mcfc.co.uk, referencing the supporter numbers of all impacted fans, by 5pm on Tuesday 7 October.

looks by that if you have paid for travel ect mcfc will refund you and also look cska will have no fans at the Etihad so might be just city fans only

Sorry if this is a stupid question but they are being punished not city so why can't our fans be there and they get no money from ticket sales?
It's not a stupid question Kaz.

There are always a range of possible sanctions UEFA could have imposed on CSKA which would not have punished the other club as well. As you stated the game could have been played with visiting fans only allowed into the ground. UEFA could have made them play both legs away from home with a ban on CSKA fans for both games. This advantages the other club, rather than them being caught up in the collateral damage. UEFA could have kicked them out of the competition for a period of time.

What I don't understand is why effectively UEFA are punishing the other clubs and supporters when they have done nothing wrong.

Once again the collective dunderheads of UEFA have failed to make a sensible decision.

Meanwhile City are left to compensate fans who have already forked out substantial amounts of money for the trip.

No wonder City fans are disillusioned with the dopes running that organisation.

Thanks for the reply
I am really not bothered about this competition, domestic trophy's is where it's at for me but i feel for those of us that do want to go but can't despite having done nothing wrong, doesn't make sense to me

maybe if we get it loud enough the club might realise to move the away fans to tier 3 when its built and not split the singing section and south stand up
