CSKA Moscow v City - Post match discussion

Whilst it was never a classic City performance , it was nonetheless one that just about got the job done.

Hart aside , we defended pretty poorly at times tonite , it has to be said , and we had to rely on Harts important last gasp save to win the points ... yet , to balance it up , we created enough half chances to have scored another goal or two ourselves, but we always appear to make such hard work of it , don't we?

Neither disallowed 'goal' should probably have been ruled out , and fortunately for us the goal machine that is Sergio Aguero added two more to his seasons tally , otherwise this evening could have ended in yet another disappointing night for City in Europe.

But we won , and that was all that mattered in the end ..... and to be honest , with two home games to come , if we don't get through the group stages this time we want shooting !

So, a CL away win at a hostile place on a shit pitch, with a massive amount of pressure on us to 'stand up and be counted'.

Don't know about you weirdos but I'm fucking ecstatic at that result.

Thought we were significantly the better side and in reality should've scored 4 or more.

Defensively worrying at times but the important thing is we gave only 6 shots on goal away in a CL away fixture . We must be doing something right.

Other than the couple of wobbly bits we were resolute and resilient which was exactly what was required.

For me were 80% of the way there now. Beat cska at home and we're through.

Does anyone know how the last 16 works ? Do we get a random team or do we get a team from a specific group ?

I'm glad others have noticed it.

Very quick and good with his feet, but definitely too lightweight.

Don't forget Silva wasn't world class until his second season. Give him more than 10 matches before judging him properly. He was world class against United.

Yeah good point, given time, hopefully he'll be Silva Pt 2.

Hope so because I thought he was our weakest player today, rarely influenced anything and thought he should've been subbed by 55 minutes. Out of all the signings he's the one I thought might terrify defenders, hardly seen it yet.

Pitch is no excuse for that defence, it's not getting any better is it.

Just had the conversation with my Dad about why Garcia is being picked to play ahead of Lescott or even Micah at CB?!

or even Boyata......please Pelli, no more Garcia at CB

Right here is the serious bit

Can the Dzeko fan boys just give it rest please, or you will be going the way of the others!

Final Warning, we support City as a team and a club not just one player
And the anti Dzeko fans too please.

Deserved to win. Should have scored 3 or 4 more. Lucky at times near the end. My only complaint is Pellegrini's subs - shockingly bad. He gambled big time and won!

It's random apart you can't plAy anyone from your own country and dependent on where you finish you play the opposite of where you finish

Question for all the Garcia slaters..What the fuck has Navas done?

I thought the same about what people said regards Dzeko.

Navas' first touch was awful tonight and didn't have much of an impact in general.
More nonsense

Navas was a constant outlet for us.

You do realise we won away in the Champions League. Had the majority of possession and chances, yet half the comments are criticisms. We must have done something right
this place is infested,it was a fantastic win well done each and everyone ,players staff and fans, big shout for navas who put 2 on a plate for the forwards,i could knick pick ,but EVERYONE,deserves a pat on the back, nearly there now ,well done city ,its a great time to be a blue

Excellent result and our chance creation (even away from home, which was a huge problem under Mancini) is very very encouraging.

Fernandinho and Negredo are absolute bosses who really fit well into the squad. Navas slightly less so.

Need to sort the defence out, mind. At the moment I'm willing to give us the benefit of the doubt as we've not played a settled back four and are also getting used to a new style. Needs to be tightened up if we're going to fulfil our potential, though.
