To be honest Garcia done better than any of us lot would have done.

What's that got to do with anything? I should hope he would play better than you or I. We aren't pro footballers. I should hope a pro footballer would do a better job at playing football than a disabled 41 year old. If nuclear technician screws up and blows up a power plant we don't say "Well he did a better job than any of us would have done." do we? This is just nonsense.

Garcia and Nastasic were all over the place as was Zaballeta.
I wonder if some people commenting on our defenders really understand the reasons why we can look poor at the back, since Kolorov got some earlier in the thread.

I thought Zaba and Kolorov did what they were asked to do, and that is attack, which I thought they both did well. Unfortunately this causes problems in behind, and the centre backs get exposed. I thought Nastasic for the most part was good, and carried Garcia at times, but they get caught because we don't have covering fullbacks much of the time. The person to blame for this is the manager, but that is how he wants us to play, and if it keeps us winning then its working I guess, but it makes life uncomfortable.

It is uncomfortable to watch our defending nowadays and I'd put this mainly down to the tactics too.Zabba has deteriorated the most defensively imo especially when Kompany is absent
I think he's worried about covering the inexperience of the centre half pairing so consequently gets caught between two chairs.

Happy with 3 points but cska looked a poor side.
Defensively we weren't good and against better sides we would have been in trouble.

Dzeko seems to have reverted back to the form of last season, ambling about, not closing down etc,the misses can be forgiven but the difference in attitude between him and Negredo is there for all to see.
A win away on a slow bobbly pitch is not to be sniffed at though.

Have to agree with most of this. All in all, an away win is NEVER to be sniffed at.

I thought Nastasic was OK but Garcia continues to ball watch and his lack of speed is a real problem against a quick forward line. Let's be fair, Garcia is at best a stand in CH. Given this, I can't for the life of me see why Richards isn't being given a chance in that role when needed.

Pathetic.

Hahaha yeah course I am.Just say what I see.He is fucking tripe.I'd rather have a yth team player in. Everything about his game,touch,finishing,effort-totally shite.
That challenge on the edge of our box at the end summed him up-It was a "Fuck it I cant be arsed challenge"

And that last part IS truly pathethic about a striker who scores shitloads in ANY competion and any team he's been in throughout his career.

You can dislike him, but at least can do in a more objective manner - otherwise it just comes off ignorant.
2003–2005 Željezničar 40 (5)
2005–2007 Teplice 43 (16)
2005 → Ústí nad Labem (loan) 15 (6)
2007–2011 VfL Wolfsburg 111 (66)
2011– Manchester City 82 (32)

Shitloads? Really?

I was just looking into it and we've played 12 games this season. The partnership who've played the most games together (Kompany and Nastasic) have managed 4 games (and even in one of them, Kompany got injured 30 minutes into it). We've just had a completely shit time of it at the back, especially with a new manager trying to impose his system on the team.

In other news Souness is battering the rags on sky.
Always liked souness,he has tipped us to win the league, was sticking up for us when schiemichel was giving it sly digs before and at halftime...
Him and Neville are the best two pundits out there. Streets ahead of the tired old faces on MOTD and Soccer Saturday. Even Carragher isn't bad (if you can ignore that bloody accent).
Regardless who he played for neville is a good pundit, motd is past its sell by date and needs to be updated but with new fresh pundits....

I find Neville fucking boring with all his rehearsed statements like "playing between the lines". Gordon Strachan is the only ex rag that I rate on commentary pans and he has a sense of humour, unlike rat boy.

I think its much more simple than that, they are expected to be high up the pitch as soon as we get possession, which means balls into the channels are more dangerous, the CB are meant to cover this, with Fernandhino covering the middle for either CB. Its the ultimate we'll outscore you tactic for me, when it clicks we are pretty unstoppable, had we taken the numerous first half chances, we'd have been over the horizon by half time.

I said to my lad tonight, I can see us scoring 7 or 8 in a game against someone this season, if we take our chances, but we will continue to conced what look like daft goals, and its mostly down to the fullback tactics, but that's the managers call.

I like it when it works, but it will cause us fans any number of heart attacks.

Huge win by any means necessary, not a great performance, particularly wasteful, but the commentators were determined to underplay CSKA and make them seem like huge underdogs (Which they aren't) and we did what we needed to do, crucial win.

Their recent record would suggest they were underdogs, no win in 7 no goals in 5.

Top result, keeps the confidence going. Why does Schmeichel persist with telling the world that Utd won the league by 13 pts?

City have already earned more in CL performance bonuses (2x €1million for 2 wins) than from all 6 games last year (3x €500k for 3 draws).

Are the Sky commentators always that biased? Because I don't have Sky I've never really heard them before but they were disgraceful tonight!! It was so obvious that they are disappointed that we won.

Disgraceful, you are supposed to be neutral Sky or at least not as biased as that!! I had to keep pressing mute on my computer they were so bad.

Sky have been biased against us for years. Every commentator and every pundit, except Souness ( always sound ) and believe it or not Neville ( unbiased and insightful comments ). Hats off to both of them.

just relieved we got something

Still think playing two strikers is utter madness but we won thank fuck

An excellent result tonight with a number of solid individual performances. I really don't think that City were as poor as so many posters are making out.

Our defence is still coming to terms with the high line system brought in by Mr P and with such aggresive forward thinking full backs, gaps are bound to appear for the opposition to run into.

In terms of match situations; the ref called their disallowed goal correctly but with Garcia and one of their's (is this OK Colin?) down, the game should have been stopped before the excellent late save from Hart.

We got lucky, really lucky with the Garcia challenge in the first half - stonewall penalty for me.

I am also really disappointed in the number of Blues making really nasty and unwarranted comments surrounding Dzeko. Just because we have all fallen in love with Negredo doesn't mean this club needs another scapegoat.

He's not another scapegoat - he's the same scapegoat as I could count on one hand how many good performances he's had for us in almost 3 years! Negredo has shown what a big striker should be bringing to our team and unfortunately Dzeko cannot do any of these things near to the level Negredo can.
