CSKA Post Match Thread

What the feck did Pelly say to them at half time? So many poor performances the result was a given whilst he kept them on the pitch. As for Toure well we'd be just as well as parking a seat in our half its so easy to walk round him...

As far as Europe is concerned we have become a joke. Spent serious money and got absolutely nowhere. Somebody needs bollocking.

Compare us with PSG and you're right. I watched on Polish TV, the commentator was saying city play like it's their first year in the competition. Just not good enough at this level

Two strikers is great when the opposition just sit back to contain and hit on the counter. When they decided to come out and play in the second half we lose control of midfield and therefore the match which then leaves us vulnerable to bad decisions. And Navas? Seriously?

We need a style of play that works in Europe and a change of mentality. What we do is simply not working and we have run out of excuses.

We fucked ourselves, pathetic to blame officiating.

A bit like the sun coming up each day, referees make shit decisions.

If only our talent matched our arrogance and naivety.

Time to face facts, this set of players don't have the urgency required to play at this level.

And just like the bollocks performance against Blackburn in the FA Cup, which ensured another game we could have done without, we're now looking at an extended campaign in the Europa League.

Pellegrini has shown far too much loyalty to certain players, who have repaid him and the club by mugging him off.

The elephant in the room remains the liability which is Toure.

He's offering nowt and much more of this and we will have to pay him off to join another club.

I agree with you regarding Toure Tolmie

However, you are letting off Pellegrini......he continues to play 442 in a competition that we have done nothing in and then wonder why we keep failing

It isn't the Premier League with technically inferior players. Most teams have players who can play and if you give them an inch they will take advantage.

It may be harsh, but I believe we should be asking serious questions of the manager's ability to get it right in Europe.

We need to stop trying to run before we can walk in Europe and go back to basics. We need to forget about playing our style of football because it quite evidently is not working. It is no coincidence that our best performance in the competition in the past 4 seasons was against Bayern with are second string side.

Lets just put out a side so we don't get beat, use our strengths in a different way.

Team for the rest of the campaign:

--------------------------------------------------------------- Hart -----------------------------------------------------------------
Zabba ---------------------------------- Vinny --------------------- Mangala/ Demichellis -------------------- Clichy
------------------------------------------------------- Fernando ------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------- Fernandinho ------------------------ Yaya -------------------------------------------------------
Navas -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kolarov
------------------------------------------------------ Dzeko -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lets get men behind the ball and break with pace. Use Edin like he was at Wolfsberg and playing him in a counter attacking team. At least we will have the option of bringing on Silva and Aguero off the bench but it just seems that we cannot play to their strengths in this competition.

Yeah, worked really well against Barca at home.

I'd rather Barca be the benchmark that fucking CSKA

Whichever way we had approached the second half we should have been easily good enough to secure a comfortable win. If we'd controlled the game, kept our shape, settled for a 2-0 and kept the ball we should have been good enough to do it. Or if we'd pressed for more goals, attacked them and raised the intensity we should have been able to. They are a very mediocre team at this level.

Fact is everyone thought the game was over at H-T we changed down into 1st gear, lost all the initiative and posed them no problems at all. The defending, the pressing was abysmal and the lazy attitude all stank. It's a hard one to take.

we have the talent and ability.

we have the money backing us.

we have the staff.

we have the support.

we have the league.

we don't have the mentality to win in the champions league. Its that simple.

I'm not sure if its underestimating the opponent, or some sort of champions league psychological mind fuck, but midway thru the 4th year of this shit its clear this competition just isn't for us. Not yet at least.
