I see a few of us have suffered tyre blow outs, one excellent solution is the Park Tools Tyre Boot patch, anytime either myself or mates have had to use one they have always managed to get us back to base. An essential item for the saddle bag and a lot less bulky that a spare tyre ;-)

Didn¨t know about this, will be buying and, hopefully not using!

It took me over 20mins to stop my heart beating like a trip hammer. Very, very different to swimming in the rarified lanes of my gym¨s indoor pool. So fucking deep! No resting place, just swim, swim, swim, but I¨m back there Sunday and will be better for doing the swim yesterday. The water was about 19 Deg C, I had a 1.5mm swim top and standard swimming ¨trunks¨. I have a 3mm wetsuit arriving today. You have to have a brightly coloured swimcap too. It was brilliantly organised. A real mix of swimmers, some very serious tri-athletes, a few just happy to meander around mixing their stroke; I tried to keep front crawl for the full hour but did find myself on my back a couple of times just to get a breather. Well worth six quid. Back on the bike today and judging by some of the posts on here I¨m gonna need at least five spare tyres, ten inners, a set of Campag allan keys and at least 4 pumps!! :-)
I’ve swam there plenty of time’s and agree it’s well organised, the first time is an eye opening experience I’ll admit, when the reeds get your feet it’s a fucking shock!!

44.5 miles this morning, mate had a mare though, puncture then another then another, ran out of gas canisters, bought one at a bike shop to repair 3rd, 5 miles later at the bottom of Cragg he got a 4th, game over. I left him there and rode back alone while his dad got him. Just one of those mornings

He'll probably ride the next thousand miles and ne'er get another! I always think that after a puncture there's another couple just waiting to fuck you over!

Is your mate running studded tyres inside out?

Ive hit a slump this week planned to do loads but just ended up with one aborted ride and a Zwift session, that’s not going to offset the calories I am shoving in my face bias food and drink

Back from a century ride today. Mainly vanity miles on Cheshire lanes down to Crewe and back. Only 3.5k feet climbing in 103 miles from Prestwich. Been really enjoyable cycling through the lockdown but today kind of felt like it was over. Sadly.
