Cycling Advice

I'll give a bit of cycling advice to all the scallies out there riding around on a Carrera dressed in black with hoodie's over their skanky heads.

Instead of cycling around the streets late at night looking for a fix, buy a pair of bike lights before you get twatted by my car bumper!

Cunts.

Had a day to forget on the bike Tuesday. Cycled out to the Wizard in Alderley to meet our kid for a suitably socially distanced ride. 20 mins into the ride his chain snapped so had to cycle and push him back at same time in torrential rain. Thought I¨d make most of the ride so set off on my own, did 52 miles and was coming through Poynton when my back tyre exploded. Not a problem I thought as I¨d just bought a new set of inner tubes with the requisite 80mm valve for my 66m deep section rims. Popped the inner tube in and was somewhat taken aback by the complete lack of valve protruding through the rim. Never mind, will ring the missus and get picked up. Looked at blank and very dead phone. So, knowing it would be a 2 hour walk in rather expensive cleated shoes I walked to Poynton railway station and waited for the train, hoping that the guard wouldn¨t ask for any money as I didn¨t have the proverbial pot to piss in. Just as the train pulled in I heard ¨welcome to the 19:30 to Manchester Piccadilly, please note that the wearing of face masks is compulsory on Northern Rail trains¨ Hastily made a rather strange looking face mask with my cycling glove, prayed to the Good Lord that I¨d be allowed to travel and kept very, very stil until Heaton Chapel where I disembarked and trudged home.
Moral of story - don¨t take the bike shop¨s word for length of valve and always charge phone before heading out on bike. And have a facemask on standby. And some money. And a chain link tool. And a brother who doesn¨t smash the life out of his chain by riding everyfuckingwhere on the big ring.

Unlucky mate, just wasn’t your day.
I always have 2 spare inners, spanner and couple of Alum keys in case of emergency and never ever leave with wallet, spare change and phone charged up!!

If I could get a spare tyre with me I would as the side wall blew in mine couple of months ago, brakes had been tubing on the tyre instead of the rim, and needed to get picked up, was a long wait on Cragg Vale in cold weather.

28 pan flat and reasonably quickish miles yesterday but nothing today - doing open water swim instead at Sale Water Park. Although, judging by the weather I may be doing an open water swim in the back garden soon.

Is it open everyday now mate? What times they open from?

Nice climb that, exposed though to stop on! Warren gives it 6/10. There’s some tasty climbs up Hebden and Tod way. Did that Mytholm Steeps one last year that he ranks at 10/10. In a word, pain.

Plenty of climbs all around there!! Done a few but don’t think I’ve been up Mytholm steeps, will look out for that next time I’m over that way. Doing Cragg and surrounding area this Saturday morning hopefully.

I used to carry 2 spare inner tubes. I now carry 4 after an incident years ago when I suffered a puncture in both front and rear tyres simultaneously and one of my spare tubes was already punctured!

Unlucky or what? - the chances of that happening must be up there with goal line technology failing!

I also carry two pumps after another incident when i discovered my pump was knackered as I attempted to replace a tube by the roadside.......
